Meguiar's Unigrit 3" discs
Wondering if anyone has used or tried to use them with a 3.5" B&S BP? Or do I have to buy the 3" Meguiar's BP? Looking at them for headlight resto's.
It's all in the details

I don't think it will end well with that extra .5" clearance on the backing plate after it touches anything without proper padding. You can always use a bigger pad on a smaller backing plate, but not the other way around. I would suggest buying the 3" backing plate to pair up with the sanding discs in order to utilize the "edging technique" when doing headlight restorations, or any polishing in general so you can work up as close as possible to the edges of the surface.

That's what I figured, but sometimes things say 4" and they are 4 1/2 etc.. So I figured I would ask.

To the op.....take a look at the Megs headlight kit here at AG... at 125 bucks that thing is loaded with stuff. Backing plates sanding disks and pads and interface pads.....great bang for your buck when the next sale comes around.
And a nice little bag to boot.

Sometimes he uses the interface pad and sometimes he does not, depending on the application.
