Rupes with Microfiber cutting and foam finishing
Alright all you geeks, here is another Rupes post. Haven't pulled the trigger on my Rupes 15 yet but wanted to talk about pads for it.
I recently went to 5" pads on my DA and I asked myself why I didn't do that sooner. Love 5". So, I got about 5 black ops microfiber cutting pads from CG and am loving them so far. I also have 5" orange hex logic foam cutting pads, green heavy polish pad, and white polishing pad.
Is my set up good and ready for my Rupes?
Would Megs microfiber cutting pads be better for Rupes 15 vs the black ops pads? The difference I see in the pads is the foam backing. The Megs foam is much, much thinner than CG's.
Should I get microfiber polishing pads?
Should I get different/higher quality foam polishing pads?
I am pleased with results I get with my DA, cutting with MF and finishing with foam...want to make sure it will work well with my new Rupes!!! I have been using chemical guys V-line but pulling the trigger on some Menzerna fg400 and SF4000 tonight or tomorrow and going to switch to Menzerna completely. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Rupes with Microfiber cutting and foam finishing
I have been using the rupes system for over a year. I do like the meguiars mf pads better, have not fell in love with the rupes yet. I would strongly suggest the rupes foam pads however, design need for the large throw.

I believe the word on the street is for Rupes, PC, GG and Megs DA's that are NOT forced rotation the thin foam backing is preferred. The thick foam backer should be used with rotary and Flex machines. Having said that, I have used the megs pads on my GG and they work awesome. I have used the thick pad on my Flex, and it was awesome. I have not switched the two.

Re: Rupes with Microfiber cutting and foam finishing
I will be sticking with Rupes pads on the Rupes polishers because they work for me and are better balance than any of the other's I've tried. I do like the hexlogic on the Rupes and will use them if needed.
I was given a Rupes MF pad (blue) and I used it to remove 2000 grit sandpaper scratches (wet sanded my Cobra's paint) and it did an excellent job of removing them, so I see no reason to use any other MF on the Rupes other than the Rupes.
My polishes of choice are: M105/205 and Rupes Diamond polish.
