OK, yes it will work. How quickly I'm not sure. I just ordered the 3" carpro pads. The 5" pads wont work on your 3" backing plate.

I'm not sure if a five inch plate with work on that tool. I'm don't think it would spin the pad under a load.

You can cut the pad to fit, but it would be a waste.

I'm guessing the 3" pads I ordered should be here Friday or Saturday this week.

15,000 RPM? Yikes! You have to keep Cerri Glass wet and it flings everywhere with a DA. I couldn't imagine 15,000 RPM. I think you'll find some on the ceiling and in your hair. Please keep us posted.

15,000 is the no load speed. But it is going to make a mess!

Isn't it rather odd that this particular DA Sander has been given RPM ratings?
NOTE: I can think of at least one other manufacturer of DA's to do likewise.

And: There really isn't an truly accurate chart to convert between RPM's and OPM's, is there?

    However:
Flex Tools, due to their having a forced rotation DA, has come up with:
a standard...for converting (as close as possible) their RPM/OPM ratings.

    TO WIT:

Flex XC 3401 VRG ...No load speeds: 3200-9600 OPMs/160-480 RPMs

    Dial #'s........OPM's/RPM's (no load).....{~20:1}
    1................3,200/160
    2................4,500/200
    3................5,800/270
    4................7,000/330
    5................8,300/400
    6................9,600/480

    BTW:
-FLEX PE14-2-150 Rotary Polisher...No load speed: 600-2100 RPM
-PC7424XP "no load speed" 2500-6800 OPM

Now converting the OP's Blue Point DA Sander's (AT402MCA)
    15,000 RPM's to ~ OPM's:
