    Started wetsanding my accord

well was time to do full detail again and i wanted to wetsand it to get it to mirror like condition, factory orange peel sucks. paint readings were in 300 so plenty of coating to work with. picked up 3000 grit paper and will have to go over my 2500 areas, probably will make it easier to do get mirror like finish. Autogeek forum helped a lot with showing proper wetsanding techniques. here is results so far
    products i used

    2500 grit sand paper
Meguiar's M105 with purple wool pad
    Menzerna 203 with orange pad
    Menzerna 85rd with black pad
Black fire wetdiamond on blue pad
    Wolfgange fuzion wax

    process:
prepped panels (only what im working on couse others have wax on them). wetsanded with 2500 grit, used M105 and purple foamed wool pad to get rid of sanding marks,(checked results, pretty satisfied but was not able to get all out couse some defects were too deep) polished with 203 and then with 85rd. paint cleansed and sealed with black fire wet diamond sealant.

    defects (etching, scratches)

    before/after

did little test panel on rear quarter panel, huge difference, this is when i decided to do whole car

    before wetsanding

    after

wow great good, looks like the car was dipped in paint, lets call it "wave" and not orange peel, good turn around, next time try to cover your windows with a blanket, it'll keep everything off the seals, and its easy clean up. good job.
Working on a new sig..... still working....... if only it was as easy as buffing out swirls is...... Brad is my name.

    Looking good!

Are you going to sand down the entire car?

Nice work, if you get a machine sanding setup it makes it much easier to get even sanding and it's even easier to remove the sanding marks. I know it's a lot of work to do, but it's going to look amazing when your done!

That does look very good. I wish I had the cahones to do that to my truck. Probably for a winter project I'm going to hit the junk yard in search of a car hood and practice on that in my workshop. Better to learn on something I don't really care about. Great job though!

Wow. Why didn't I think of that, haha. I have a spare hood in my garage. If it doesn't sell I think I'll do that too, hah.
