Re: Live Broadcast! - Tonight!
Mike, as long as the pad is rotating under pressure, it's all good ?
I mean, griot's doesn't needs speed 6 like PC... sometimes even speed 5 is not needed under pressure to keep pad rotation.... would it be safe to assume that speed 4 on the Griot's as long as the pad is rotating under pressure, we are getting a satisfactory correction ?
Thank you,
Diego

Correct.
It's when the pad is rotating under pressure that you are engaging the abrasives with the paint to force them to take little bites out of the paint and that's how you remove below surface defects like swirls and scratches.
I will often use the Flex PE14 at low RPM's for correction work.

Mike I also saw you're using SF4000 for finishing and mentioned that 3-4 section passes would be fine... would it apply to SF4500 also ? How much section passes is it really needed before it breaks down ?

Re: Live Broadcast! - Tonight!
Real quick...
Paul the owner owns a custom car shop where he builds cars as well as paints them, so he needs body shop safe products for production work but he still wants to put out high quality work for his customers.
Since the paint has already been sanded and compounded, we didn't need to compound it again just remove the swirls and some of the sanding marks left behind.
For this we're using the Menzerna SI 1500 for the correction step and the Menzerna SF 4000 for the final polishing step.
Next we're going to use Pinnacle Souveran Paste Wax except we're going to machine apply it using 5.5" Crimson Hydro-Tech pads on DA Polishers.
My personal preference is to do as many steps as possible by machine and get the human hand out of the picture.
After we machine wax the paint we'll carefully remove the wax and then move the car out, roll up the floor mats and bring the car back in for the "beauty shots".
Throughout this process I've taken pictures and I'll get some posted to our forum tomorrow.
All these products, pads and tools can be found on Autogeek.net

Using good technique you should be safe around 4 section passes... if you overuse the product then you would need more time. Always focus on the task at hand and inspect your work after each pass to get a feel for how your results look relative to your technique.
Good question...

Re: Live Broadcast! - Tonight!
seeing the kid polish made me think of something, mike should host a detail day for kids who are into cars yet are troubled kids and teach them a trade would be a cool thing to do for the local florida community.
