Re: Technique for my first attempt at a coating.

Um, why do you want to use Essence and then top it with OC 2.0???

I've never even done a coating and you want to go against directions?

Just polish and then use OC.

I ment and or Essense. I know it's a AIO but isn't it also a primer for cquartz coating? I figure if its that then why not prime the OC 2.0 with it. It couldn't hurt right. Or am I wrong? I don't know that's why I'm here asking what I should do.

Essence was made for Cquartz. Not Optimum's coating. So if you're going to use Essence then coat with Cquartz. Although if you've never done one either go with Optimum or Duragloss. They're the two easiest I've ever used.

Re: Technique for my first attempt at a coating.

Corey from Carpro said that essence could possibly work as a primer for other coatings and LSP's as well, depending on their solvent content.

I just used Cquartz on top of essence yesterday, had a little learning curve to it versus Opticoat, but was only like $30 for a 10ml, so might as well just use that instead of OC2.0 if youre gonna buy Essence. I kinda feel like Cquartz was easier to apply than Opticoat pro (I never tried OC2.0 or new Gloss coat). Here in HI the OC seemed to flash too fast, and was harder to level out. With Cquartz I started by coating 2 panels, then buffing the first, then coat another, buff the 2nd, and so on. There were some minor high spots but very light.

Thanks jrs. I think I'll wait on Essense and get it later. I just need the rain to stop and finish all my upcoming appointments. Sucks that this isn't my primary job but got to pay the bills.

Maui. I been wanting to do coatings but didn't want to mess it up and have to remove and reapply. Like I said its my second job so emphasis on learning and going with trial and error can be difficult because of time even though I have a job that allows me to detail regularly on the side.
