Re: 1 inch polisher pads/backing plates
For me it's not so much a problem with budget as one having to carry around a compressor and air hoses. I am mobile and that is some serious bulk to add to what is already a ton of stuff I have to carry around.

Sounds like you need an Evergreen compressor too!

Nope. I bought the HF and the little 2" Backing Plate is Metric. 6mm x 1.00 stud
Ordered a few of KB's 2" foam pads and hope to test it out next week when they
arrive. Need to get a couple of air hose fittings and a thumb wheel regulator also as I'm out of stash.
I found where to get a replacement backing plate should the need arise, and ordered a 3" inch plate with the metric stud in hopes of using it with some of my existing pads or I will hit up Kevin again.
PM me

Re: 1 inch polisher pads/backing plates
Makes sense. I wonder about cutting down 3" plates on a lathe and pads with a razor...

I don't think a portable compressor is up to the task of powering the Rupes TA50
Air requirements:
Pressure:
bar 6 / 88 PSI approximate
Consumption:
330 liters / 87GPM / 11.7 CFM

It is but I'll have to stick with my 2" HF unit for now.

Richard Lin used one that looked to be smaller than 2 inches

Re: 1 inch polisher pads/backing plates
Using that backing plate on a drill would probably be the best solution for me until I can get an air compressor.
