2007 Mercedes benz ML350
AG Guru's I need some noobie advice! I detailed a 2007 ML350 this past weekend and I had a hard time with the wheels. The rotors/rotor guard is so large that I cannot fit my daytona speed brush under it. This goes as well for the Caliper because it's so large I probably can barely slide my finger between it and the wheel.
I have a second ML350 lined up for this weekend and it has the same wheels as the last one I did. Any advice on how to agitiate the brake dust in such a narrow wheel? Taking the wheels off is not an option at this clients house. Also, this is just a wash and wax service but normally i leave them spotless, not 2-3" into the wheel. Thanks guy!

Don't have Ironx X, nor do I think I can get it by the next detail. Any other over the counter chemicals or tools I can get a hold of locally to help?

Is it more potent then Megs WB? Thats what I'm armed with at the moment and even after 3 applications there was a TON of spots on the inner wheel barrel. Sorry to be a hassle Bill but appreciate the advice!

meguiars wheel brightener is very acidic, Better for the german wheels are they are usually soiled in brake dust. I would try a bit of meguiars hot rims and try and scrub the acid stains out of the wheel

Re: 2007 Mercedes benz ML350
My ML350 (2012 model) is not too bad for brake dust and I have used several products that are spray on/rinse off and require only minor brushing or agitation. CG Diabalo is one of the best but the two you can find locally are Mothers Tire and Wheel Foaming Cleaner and Griot's Wheel Cleaner. They both work well on my ML350 and the Mother's can be found almost everywhere; the Griot can usually be found at Advance Auto. I can also recommend Meguiar's D143 for Mercedes brake dust, which I believe may be virtually the same product as Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner. If so, Hot Rims can be found locally as well.

Re: 2007 Mercedes benz ML350
I appreciate the input guys! I already use megs WB and have been for quite a few seasons now. Aside from this specific 2007 ML350 wheel, which remains dirty after many applications, it has worked wonders on other vehicles. I just detailed a SECOND ML350, same year, with the same results. The face of the wheel cleans off beautifully, but the inside of the wheel remains dirty. Best I can describe it is speckled brown caked brake dust/rust spots. It just looks disgusting. Shortspark, I have detailed newer ML350 with flawless results, something with the wheel/brake assembly must be corroding the wheels quickly.
P.S. Simple green, Megs APC, and Megs WB have had little to no success on the INSIDE of the 2007 ML350 wheel. If anyone has any other advice please let me know!!

Seems as if that vehicle wasn't being properly hand washed prior to you. It might take multiple washes to bring to "perfection". I've had those that no matter what we use it gets cleaner but not perfect. I use a acidic cleaner to get those tough stains out. Try not to use it on the face of the wheel. You might want to use a longer and stronger wheel brush.
