My Bissell Little Green Method
A few forum members were having some issues with their method of extraction with the BLG. The method I use is to me the most efficient and effective way to use the BLG. I usually refill the clean tank 2-3 times for most of my vehicles.
There's a few types of BLGs. The new ones are all "pro heat" but have different side attachments. I have the pet version but they're all the same basically. They all have the basic nozzle that you will use the most.
Wile the BLG will not replace a higher end commercial extractor, the method I use with the BLG produces professional results that satisfies my customers until I purchase a better one.
Tools:
- Bissell Little Green
- Folex
- Scrub brush
- Vacuum
Keys
1) Do not put solution/folex into clean tank. To me, extracting with solution water will always guarantee you will leave solution in the carpet. I use only water to extract.
2) When you need to refill the tank, do so before you run out of water. Otherwise you will have to prime it all over which can take a few minutes.
3) When done scrubbing, align the carpet fibers with your scrub brush before you extract. Otherwise the carpet will look blotchy.
4) Do your carpet extraction after full vacuum but before you move on to anything else. I do this early on so the floor mats are cleaned and sitting out drying before I move on to anything else. Many times my customers ask me how I get the carpets cleaned without water lol It's because I do the carpets early and the floor mats have been drying for 1-3 hours in the sun by the time I'm done.
Step 1
Vacuum carpet and dust off any extra debris/dust from floor mats.
Step 2
Spray Folex or preferred cleaner 6-10 inches from carpet. Extra on heavily soiled/stained areas. I dilute my Folex 2 parts Folex, 1 part water. It saves on product wile not compromising its effectiveness. I also replaced the sprayer with a fine mist sprayer. It gives good coverage without using a lot of product.
Step 3
With scrub brush, scrub carpet paying extra attention to heavily soiled/stained areas. Then realign the fibers with scrub brush and let sit for a few minutes. At this time you can move on to other areas wile it sits.
This is just after a good scrubbing. Not even extracted yet. Looks good already! That's the magic of Folex lol
Step 4
Turn BLG on and spray water off to the side until the water feels hot. You can now start extracting. Start from top working down in smooth motions paying attention the to alignment of the fibers.
Step 5
Once you see that the extracted water is no longer dirty, let go of the trigger and extract the excess water again paying attention to the alignment of the fibers. This part is crucial. Some people keep holding the trigger at this point. If you do that, all you will be doing is wasting time, energy and water wile leaving excess water in the carpet.
Step 6 (optional)
Ad some detail lines!
I have been using this method for 7 months, 4-9 vehicles a week with no issues. The machine still works just as good as when I purchased it. If you clean it often and treat it nice, then you shouldn't have any problems either.

That is a nice little write up. Thanks for taking the time to put it together.
If you have a DA, the carpet attachment really helps with the scrubbing. You could then still use a brush by hand to align fibers.

Yes. Hot water extraction is far superior.

Really great tutorial and tips, thank you!
My favorite part: DETAIL LINES! Like mowing a yard, haha, awesome.
Ironically, I JUST got my ProHeat Bissell Auto machine in the mail from Amazon this afternoon, still in the box!
