Mixing IPA with ONR?
Just an idea. I have the Carpro eraser. Currently running low. The one thing i do like is how its not grabby like IPA.
However, can i possibly add some ONR to my IPA and get the same type of lubrication. Or maybe some more lubrication?
Do you guys think this is a good idea or just pointless?

I thought of that some time ago, but never put it to practice.
Maybe ask Dr. G?

eraser is an ipa/h20 mix and ? it's purpose is to remove any oils and fillers to check your work and to make sure u have a clean surface for your lsp wax-sealant-coatig to bond to . Using onr/ipa while it may still clean u surface I'm thinking the polymers in it would defeat the usage purpose. but then again I believe people may have even used a onr or any rinse less wash after polishing and before lsp? for me it's something I wouldn't do . many people still use the ipa/h20 mix . I prefer to use prep-all . can even use mineral spirits also . just my thoughts .

Do you use mineral spirits straight or do you dilute it?
I can't find prep-all in my area. Maybe I should check-out a Benjamin Moore or Aboff paint store in my area. I know Home Depot and Lowes doesn't have it.

yes I use mineral spirits straight. prep-all is made by kleen strip. sometimes u can find it in a quart but I get it by the gallon . I got it at local auto parts store o'reilleys. if u don't see it ask for it , I had to order the gallon size at like about $12. DuPont makes a prep-sol but it is quite more expensive . do not get rustoleum brand tar and wax remover , it's junk IMO . duplicolor make a good one though . don't be afraid to use ms , it's avail widely and get the odorless one too .

Re: Mixing IPA with ONR?
Maybe in stead of ONR a few drop of CG citrus wash to provide a little glide. I know ONR polymers leave behind some residues that add gloss to the finish. It would be counter intuitive. But a few drops of soap might be worth a try just to allow the micro fiber to glide. I use a little soap when I wet sand to keep the paper from dragging and to lubricate the surface.

Dumb question, what is IPA?

Re: Mixing IPA with ONR?
Isopropyl Alcohol, diluted with water makes a pre LSP cleaner for removing polishing oils from the paint.

Re: Mixing IPA with ONR?
There will be no negative reaction by adding ONR to a IPA/water solution. You can safely use a dilution of 2-8% which falls between our clay lube and quick detailer dilution recommendations. Let us know how it works for you as it may be a cheap alternative for some. I personally have used ONR at wash dilution (1:256) with IPA (1:32) to clean windows when the customer was a smoker with good results.
