    Nanoskin Sponge Question

I just got a nanoskin fine sponge in the mail, but I was wondering if it's okay to use the sponge with soap and water as lube or if it's necessary to use a detail spray for lube.

    Thanks

    Re: Nanoskin Sponge Question

    I wouldn't
also need to prep it prior to initially using it
A quick detaileelr spray should work or even rinseless/waterless in a spray bottle

I just waited an extra week and fotnthe glide luve and diluted it

I use wash solution with my clay towel; either regular shampoo in a bucket, or waterless wash in a spray bottle.

    Re: Nanoskin Sponge Question

DD Born Slippery does it for me. Don't forget to break it in on glass first. I really don't think it matter as much what medium you use as to how much. You want super-slippery, you shouldn't have to apply really to much pressure, the sponge should glide along the surface. Use you other hand to lightly check your progress. Have fun. Good luck.

    Peace,

    Re: Nanoskin Sponge Question

Just made a thread regarding my findings on this... I used the nanoscrub mitt last night with Megs Gold Class wash. It def. makes a difference on the consistency of the "lubricant" you're using whether its a car wash or actual detailer/clay lubricant. I found the gold class wash with water to have too thick of a consistency that it didn't do anything and I wasted an hour doing my whole car. Switched to Chemical Guys Clay Luber and worked wonders. If you're wash is gel like prior to adding water, it probably won't work. Like the others said, be sure to start with the windows and break in the mitt.

    Re: Nanoskin Sponge Question

I use my Nanoskin Fine Sponge with Ultima Waterless Wash+ mixed at
waterless wash rates (.5OZ per 22 OZ of water) and get absolutely no marring. Ofcourse I do rinse off the sponge after each section using the hose with a nozzle on a hard spray. Then just dry the surface afterwards--no need to rewash. Works much better than ONR.

    Re: Nanoskin Sponge Question

I do, but only when I'm correcting afterwards. It does mar the paint more this way than using Glide, though I still find the marring comes out of my paint with only a couple passes of a fine polish so no big deal.

I remember when I was prepping a 2015 Escalade ESV (if they still call the stretched ones that) and I needed to finish before the sun came out. My helper and I used two buckets, Nanoskin Sponge and Handy Towel (LOVE that little green towel!!!!) and got that thing done quick. The paint was butchered though, and so reducing marring wasn't really a top concern. It needed 2 rounds of Menzerna SHC just to get the compounding done!!
