Washing foam products before first use...

Hi all,

So, I've always heeded the advice of experts and washed microfibers before using them for the first time to ensure they weren't contaminated during either the manufacturing or the shipping processes.

However, when it comes to foam products like applicator pads or DA buffing pads, is it best to wash and dry them first as well?

For years, I believe I've gotten away with ripping open an new package, checking for visible contamination, and getting straight to business with a paint product if the pad looked clean... but there may have been some damage done in the process that I overlooked. I would imagine it may be more critical to wash new DA/rotary pads before their first use, but could we get away without it on hand applicators?

I have never washed pads before first using (mf towels yes) and I've been just fine. That said, I'll brush them off first but not wash.
