    Stains under side Mirrors

Hi Mike, need some help. I am new to detailing and only take care of my personal vehicles. My wifes 2011 Audi Q5 has drip stains under the side mirrors that I can not get out. I have tried Wolfgang Paint conditioner, Pinnacle Crystal Mist and washing to remove.
(all by hand, I own a PC)
When the car was new I applied 2 coats of Wolfgang Deep Gloss Sealant and topped it off with 2 coats Pinnacle Souvern. 3 months later I top coated with a new coat of Souvern. I wash it with Wolfgang Auto Bathe and wipe on Pinnacle Crystal Mist after most every wash.

What can I try to determine if it is in the wax or in the paint. If in the paint, what do I do?

I use Stoner Invisible glass on the windows but am pretty careful not to get on the paint.

    Thanks for your advice!

A picture would help to determine the cause and remedy.
"Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration." Lincoln's First Annual Message to Congress, December 3, 1861.

Looks like it would just wipe off with a little water or detail spay but it doesn't.

Once you buff it out, seal it with CQ or another nano coating. Here's an example of some mirror stains that I took care of lately:

Are those the whitish spots I see in the second photo?

And they weren't there when you picked up the car....

Try a polish like Meguiar's Ultimate Compound or Meguiar's M205. Just try using it on a soft cloth and gauge its affect. You're trying to find something that begins to get to the root of the problem. If one does work then take it from there...

Those are the spots. The car is a few months old now and these only showed up last week. They look like water drips that may have had some product or chemical in the water.
I don't think they are just hard water.

I agree, there's something else going on here. This isn't merely hard water...

    • Is it possible that the vehicle was splashed with something that's actually etched the surface?
    • Can you feel anything as you glide your fingers across the defects?
    • Try some compound or polish and the cloth I mentioned to see if this has any positive impact. If it's still the same then it's probably time to have it looked at professionally.

Thanks for the all the advice Bobby. Wiped it down with the Wolfgang Polish enhancer, then used some Pinnacle Finish Polish on a soft cloth. Took a little more pressure then I anticipated but I was able to get it out. Sealed it back up and hoping it never comes back.
    Thanks again
