Re: A pair of Hellcats---soft, med or hard paint?
As you can see, I don't believe in the absolute need to polish before a coating... I say if there's nothing on it + it's swirl free, go ahead and coat it.

Opps Eldo---misread this and made a mistake in my response. Sorry.
It is my understanding that it IS a good idea to at least do a polish to remove any previous lsp that may be present in the paint. Plus doing a paint prep to prepare for coating.

Is it virgin paint w/o lsp? I don't know. It just that owner waxed the snot out of it. And often. Beading water like crazy too when I got it.
Plus the car is a 2015 and I know it has scratches and swirls in it---it just that I can find any!
Even outside in dark under light---nothing.

I hear you... And yea that's the proper procedure as we all know it. It's just my opinion that it's not as critical as maybe we're lead to believe sometimes.
Alot of things aren't as critical as we tend to think, i.e. washing a car at night: Will you miss a spot? Maybe, but it'll still look just about as good as your super duper detailed wash. Lol.

Hear you---And thanks for jumping in.
Well gonna call it a night since my back hurts from wrestling with a kitty named Hell that was green with envy!
And another nasty kitty coming my way that is purple with anger that green kitty got all the attention today! Chuckle...

Consider McKee's Coating Prep Polish for a vehicle that doesn't need any sort of correction. It will at least clean the paintwork of any sort of embedded dirt and get it ready for a coating. I'd still follow it up with paint rep like an IPA mixture (whatever is your preference) and then you'll be good to go.

Looks great. Do you notice any big differences between the Tuff Shine and the Mckee’s tire cleaners?
