McKee's Tire Coating, new formula
Back in February I purchased the McKee's tire coating kit - McKee's 37 Tire Coating Kit It has the tire rejuvenator, coating, applicators, brushes and even some gloves. I also got the wheel coating to go with it - McKee's 37 Wheel Coating, wheel wax, wheel sealant, brake dust repellent I used it and found it did a good job of restoring my tires, however the finish was a very matt, flat finish. A second coat did not increase the shine at all. It did have the advantage of making the tires very easy to keep clean, basically just requiring light brushing with car wash soap to keep looking good. Here is a picture of the results after about 6 weeks with weekly washing:
A few weeks after I purchased the kit, Nick mentioned on a thread that they were coming our with a new formula as there had been some complaints that the finish was too flat, no shine at all. I emailed him and asked about it and he shipped me a bottle of the new formula. It applies just like the old formula, and is rather thin. After cleaning the tires vigorously with the included tire brush and the rejuvenator I applied two coats. The new formula has much more shine and to my taste it is just about perfect. It has been about 5 weeks now since I have applied it and here is what it looks like today:
I have been washing weekly since application and this is my DD.
Overall I am very pleased with the new formula. I will post back as I get a better feel for the longevity.
Thanks, Nick, for sending the new formula!

I usually prefer the flat-black/matte
look on tires. However: the amount
of "sheen", shown pictured below, is
a very nice look---one that I can most
definitely appreciate.
Looks like I'm going to have to try
this new formula of Nick's out on
some Michelins.

Bob,
I agree, this shine is more subdued. I really like the look compared to others I have used.

The new formula comes with a sticker on the bottle that says "new formula"
