    Coatings on Exhaust Tips

Do you guys use your favorite coating (paint or wheel; but I'd think wheel due to hardness) on stainless steel exhaust tips? I've got gorgeous tips on all my vehicles. One of them is a turbo, so it generates LOTS of black stuff and pipes are oriented where it's very visible (straight out the back). I wipe it daily, but don't want to get behind the power curve. I have Pinnacle Black wheel coating and was thinking this would work great.

It will still stick... coating or not. I have the same issue and I wipe them down every weekend, my car is catless.

Wax, sealant, or coating will help minimize carbon deposits and clean up easier. I treat all tips on my personals, and customers.

Used DLUX on my uncles Borla cat back exhaust tips which are stainless steel. He does not drive it that much but they are sure easy to clean when I give the car some sort of wash.

Prior to cleaning and then sealed. They now wipe down with a damp MF.

    I don't.

How effectively do you think a 'Coating'
    will penetrate SS's passivation layer?

I use CQ Dlux. It basically makes them easier to clean and they stay cleaner a tad longer. I speak from personal experience running no cat and high flow cat exhaust systems in the past.

CarPro Dlux is great for exhaust tips. It is highly resistant to extreme temperatures (up to 800F). Tips stay cleaner longer, and maintaining is a breeze. A simple wipe during your routine maintenance wash is all that's needed.

    Re: Coatings on Exhaust Tips

I haven't used a coating on my exhaust tips but I've used metal polish with great results. I know they leave some kind of protection because my exhaust tips bead like crazy for a few washes. I try not to let the exhaust soot build up by washing the exhaust tips when I wash the car. But that wasn't the case recently and I let the exhaust tips get really black. I just wiped off the inside of my exhaust tips with a wet paper towel and it came right off.

Here are the reviews of the 2 polishes I've used with amazing results:

I use Wolfgang metal sealant. It works pretty good.
