Tapping off car trim
I ve got a very simple question.
Do we need to tape off the car trims, plastics n emblems when we are using the prewax cleansers or gloss enhancing polishes??? Like we do during compouding n polishing.

I do but I have a very hard time getting the automotive and or blue tape to stick to the plastic trim no matter what I do

Re: Tapping off car trim
You might want to try the 3M automotive masking tape (yellow). Sticks well and is usually around $3.50 a roll which is less than most others either from AG or Amz. I think Carpro also sells some red tape but havent tried it.

I do and mainly for 2 reasons...1. to keep any black trim from turning my pad black and then transferring all that black crap back onto the paint. 2. I am probably using a softer pad with a cleaner wax and keep badges and any sharp emblems from ripping and tearing my foam pad.
I hit those areas by hand later.

Re: Tapping off car trim
My non-abrasive cleaner of usual choice is P21S and I usually do it by hand (vs. DA) although Prima or Pinnacle is also in the arsenal.

I do not tape. It's a pain in the arse. I just stay about 1/4" away from any trim or emblems, then as Paul said above, hit those areas by hand.
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.

Here here to that.
Used to to do it and real pain-much easier by hand.
