Very weird. I have no problems with that happening at all. You should give their customer service line a call and see if that's happened with other ones. I was worried about the same thing initially but after trying the large orbit with the larger BP everything worked great both corded and not.

I'll have to give them a call.
I should note that it does with better with the 12mm and 2'' pads than with the 3mm, but still not great

I noticed the same thing. With the rotary adapter, it works fine. Throw on the 3mm or 12mm, and I can barely touch the paint and it's almost stopping.
That's trying with a variety of polishes (Included RUPES polishes, Sonax 4/6, CarPro Reflect, FG400, etc)
my issue is only with the 3mm throw and 1 inch pads. Have no problems spinning with the 12mm

Did you try Rupes polishes?
Reason I ask is because they seem significantly different than other polishes to me. They are meant to almost work "dry"...
I have noticed some pads do not spin well, depending on the polish.

Re: Rupes iBrid Status
The biggest technique issue I've observed is too much pressure... think in scale. We require virtually no pressure with the full size tools... scale that amount of force back to correspond to the size of the pads you're using on the nano. It requires a VERY light touch. There isn't anything slowing/stopping rotation on the various eccentric sets like a shroud or anything. The only way to stop rotation is drag and drag would be created by downward pressure.

K I'm not the only one. This is on flat panels like pillars.I just use machine weight too.
So I kinda let the 3mm slightly hover

Re: Rupes iBrid Status
After adjusting my technique, I've been able to get it working with most pad/polish combos without significant bogging.
It does require very, very little pressure. The 3mm seems to have the most difficultly from my testing. But adjusting the angle of the machine will really help.

We just got a handful in late last week. We have a few left before they're gone again!
