Re: Porsche Boxster - Paint Correction & Opti-Coat Pro by Mr. Sparkle Detailing - Long Island, NY

Thanks much for this post. And that Boxster looks awesome.

Did a test spot on the wife's Boxster today. it's in much better shape than this one. Some swirls, more horizontal scratches from bad washing, I suspect. Started with HD Polish and a White pad on my DA. Nope. White pad and HD Adapt. Nope. Orange pad and HD Adapt. Some progress, but nope.

Really don't want to go the rotary route. Need to go more aggressive and don't want to work it forever. Will try Megs 105 and an orange pad tomorrow. If that doesn't get it in 3-4 passes I'll need to rethink and perhaps have a pro do the paint correction.

Thanks again. i would have been scratching my head had I not read this post.

FYI and in case anybody is struggling with this in the future: M105 and a microfiber cutting pad worked pretty well. I got about 75% of the car done with three passes. The worst areas needed to be worked again. For me these were the the 5" are below the top ridge on the doors and a similar 4-5" area on the front fenders - about where the gas-cap door is. There are still a few scratches left I can live with. In the future may take sandpaper to those. Rock chips and road rash are a bigger issues I need to work on.
