Black Corvette ZR1 Vs The Boss System Review

This car was no garage queen, it had 80 thousand miles, and boy did it show, the owner paid for this car to drive it, and drive it he did.

i was expecting it to be bad, but not this bad, it looked like it went thru every automatic car wash in a 75 mile radius.

so we first started with the washing process

Soap Used: Griots Car Wash with Megs APC

here is what the car looked like, after i washed it, clayed, inspected it. (viewer discretion advised)

It was clear this car was in rough shape, it had every defect possible, Water Marks, swirl marks, deep scratches, solvent pop, sanding marks, bird poo etching, this was was a hot mess.

i first started with a foam pad and fg400, it wasnt enough. as i expected.

i then put on my terminator glasses, i had some serious defects to kill here.

i then slapped on the Griots Garage Fast Micorfiber Cutting Pad , and primed it with Griots Garage Fast Correcting Cream
(this is the most aggressive pad and polish combo in the boss line)

    this is what i got!

so i now decided my plan of attack

    Polisher Used: Boss G21
    Compound: Boss Fast Correcting Cream
    Pad: Microfiber Cutting Pad

you can see the haze that was left over with this step, Fast Correcting Cream finishes better on foam, but due to the aggressive pad it left some haze, but it leveled every defect!

here is some of the after compounding pics (not polished yet)

For the Second step, to remove the compound haze, i used

    Polish: Perfecting Cream
    Pad: Perfecting Pad

these were the results after the 2 step polishing process.

here are some before and after 50/50s (some are not polished just compounded)

(that one is with fast cream and perfecting cream)

cleaned and polish the exhuast tips!

and here are the after shots! (sun wasnt out it was cloudy)

my LSP, was Griots Garage Poly Wax

Conclusion: this car was really bad, it didnt turn out perfect, but perfection or even 90% was just un realistic, the car still had some deep scratches and solvent pop, that no polish or pad is going to help, but from what the car was to now, it went from a ZR-NONE back to a ZR-1.

the Fast Correcting Cream is at the top of the game right now in elite compounds if you have not tryed it yet i encourage you to try it, and i dare you not to love it, (it finishes better then fg400 with a microfiber cutting pad)

    Pros For Fast Correcting Cream
    long work time, works wet
    no dusting
    easy wipe off
    no fillers

the entire Boss Cream Lineup have those characteristics and are a dream to use.

    Cons
    cant think of any

    Pros for Microfiber Cutting Pad
this pad (all of the boss pads are) BULLET PROOF, it Cuts amazingly nice, i was leveling all the defects in 1 or 2 section passes, saves alot of time, a real quality pad.

    Cons
    cant think of any

if you have all the Boss Pads, And Boss Creams, you can virtually tackle any Paint System and Defect that comes your way.

the customer was thrilled about his zr-1 and didnt think it was going to come out as good as it did.

Overall give the Boss System a try youll be happy you did!

Are you sure this Chevy is no Garage Queen, for the fact that to you completely erased such 80 thousand miles with all the pampering/perfection you instilled within that rich black paintwork....keep up the outstanding work

I like the fact that this Vette gets driven but Wowzers! Thats some beat up paint for sure!

Fantastic save on this one, really nice work!

We don't get anything "Griots" all the way down here which is a shame. It looks like a real nice system. The microfibre pad looks like the nap is fairly long compared to . . . say, LC microfibre pads, would this be correct?

Great review, thanks for sharing & again, nice work!

Very nice work indeed bringing that vette back to life!
Only con w/ the Boss creams for me (and I know it's nit picky), is the smell.
I must be allergic because it really bothers me.
