I haven't posted much of my work in awhile due to a recent move into my new place and having my 3rd child but I am going to try and post as often as I can.
This weekend I got the opportunity to detail an Onyx white 2016 Volkswagen Golf R for a buddy of mine. The owner of the vehicle took delivery with zero dealership prep (still had plastics on the outside/inside). The owner took the vehicle home to swap on his winters and then drove the vehicle right over to my place. In total there are only 80 kms on the vehicle.
We opted to try out Gtechniq's brand new Crystal Serum Light (CSL) paint coating that offers 3-5 years of durability, 9H paint hardness and resists 2-12pH chemicals. For a consumer level coating this has some of the highest durability claims and I am excited to see how it performs.

Before Photos:
It decided to snow on Friday so the vehicle arrived a little dirtier than we had anticipated. Not a big deal though as we needed to fully wash, decontaminate and spot polish some areas before applying the paint coating. The owner already swapped on some 17" winter wheels and they compliment the car rather nicely. The owner wanted to help with the detail so we got too it shortly after it arrived.
Overall the vehicle arrived in exceptional condition. We started by pulling off all the exterior plastic and noticed that some of the dark shiny areas (mirrors and pillars) would require a light polish before the coating is applied.
During Photos:
A 2 bucket wash with Chemical Guys Citrus Wash and Gloss was performed followed by a chemical decontamination using Riccardo Iron Maiden (iron and fallout remover)
Even though the car is brand new it was still fairly contaminated.
Once the vehicle was chemically decontaminated a light clay was required to remove the remainder of paint contaminants.
After the spot polishing was performed Gtechniq Panel wipe was applied to the painted surfaces to ensure that the paint is squeaky clean.
Here is a shot of CSL leveling on the pillars.
