Re: 2016 Onyx White Golf R - New vehicle Prep with Gtechniq CSL
Paint Thickness: Taken using Digital Coating Thickness Gauge
Now that I own a PTG and do work on some brand new cars, I'm curious what your readings were in general (hi-low, door jambs...) in mls or microns, and was the Golf ss or cc? Thanks.

I'd like to comment if I may....
I can't speak to this specific car (obviously) but I tend to work on a lot of VW's... in general I find:
New (VW) paint ranging from around 140µ to 160µ.
Second hand units range from 100µ to 140µ depending on how much paint correction they have been exposed to
The odd hammered one comes in between 80µ and 100µ
Door jambs typically range from 60µ to 80µ

Thanks for your comments.
A ptg has been an eye opener for me. My readings on new vehicles have been somewhat lower than what you are getting. USA versus ROW could account for that. Most (new) Asian cars are 100-160, a panel or 2 in spots 80-90. Door jambs if CC'd are over 100. Non-CC'd 60-90. Never have detailed a VW.
