Julio Jones' #11 Atlanta Falcons 458 Spider detailed!!

2012 Ferrari 458 Spider, Bianco Avus

I had the extreme pleasure to be able to work on Julio Jones’, #11, wide receiver for the Atlanta Falcons, 2012 Ferrari 458 Spider!!!!

He is selling the vehicle and one of my clients is purchasing it…with the caveat of having Autodermatology detail it prior to it being delivered.

The vehicle was shipped down and arrived at Botox Plaza 1…aka Autodermatology’s headquarters Thursday night!

Upon initial inspection, I noticed that the vehicle was covered in swirls from poor wash technique, scratches, scuffs and general dirt/grime.

The paint readings were good; they averaged around 6mils +/- or so.

I began with the wheels. They received a dousing of P21S wheel cleaner regular. Tires were cleaned with Tuf Shine tire cleaner. Tuf Shine brush, Daytona speed master and other brushes were utilized with the cleaning process. The wheels had some tar globs and build up on them. They received a small shot of Tarminator to remove the spots. (The wheels had been touched up at some time, and I have not had good luck with Tarminator on touch up painted/repaired wheels—one time it was actually removing some of the paint!) That is the reason for just a surgical precision amount of Tarminator being used.

The wheel wells were sprayed with 1Z APC, allowed to dwell for a while and then scrubbed with a boar’s hair brush and washed off.

The wheels were sealed with BEEDS HD Premium Ceramic Paint Treatment.

The vehicle was then hit with the foam cannon. It was charged with SCG Professional Surface Prep Wash. I let that dwell a bit while I used some misc brushes on the emblems, cleaned the exhaust, etc.

Vehicle was then 2BW’d with Wolfgang Autobathe and a new micro-chenille mitt.

Another was bucket was prepped using Sonax Gloss Shampoo concentrate. This was my clay bucket. I used a medium nano sponge wash mitt for this step.

The vehicle was rinsed off with an Adam’s fire nozzle.

The vehicle was then blown dry with a Metro Master Blaster. Any remaining water was sucked up with a Guzzler MF towel.

Tape time! (My favorite part…not really) I used just about all of the tape in the world of all varieties to tape this machine off. I also used an Autogeek Detailing Cover up towel on the windshield and cowl area.

Machines used: Flex 3401, Flex PE8, Rupes Duetto.

Lighting: Scangrip Color Match LED’s. Great lights! I also used my homemade LED setups as well. (Thanks Zach!)

White is difficult to capture some of the imperfections as well as afters, so keep that in mind.

Test spot! I have had excellent luck and am really on an HD kick so I grabbed some HD polish and a Megs polishing disc. My previous experience with Italian vehicles told me that the paint should be on the soft side. Negative ghost rider. This finish was harder than Chinese arithmetic!

I upped my pad to a Megs cutting disc. No dice. OK, I stepped up to HD cut and the Megs cut disc. I was still not happy. I finally found the combo that was giving me the results that I was happy with: Pinnacle Advanced Compound and a blue/cyan cut pad of unknown make.

The vehicle’s first step of correction was with the above combo along with the PE8 and some orange pads in the 1” and 2” variety.
The second stage of correction/finishing was completed with CarPro Essence. I used the Duetto and a yellow Rupes pad. I am really starting to dig this product. I like it for a few reasons. It is very easy to use and really amps up the gloss. It does have some filling capabilities that I will have to live with, but that is OK with me for now, and I really like to use it as a ‘prep’ for a coating. I do not use any IPA/Eraser wipe down after using Essence.

LSP was BEEDS HD Premium Ceramic Paint Treatment. This was used on the exterior paintwork, door jams, under the bonnet and engine compartment lids and on the exterior trim.

Tires were dressed with CarPro PERL @ 100%.

Glass cleaner was Adam’s and a dedicated glass mf towel was used.

Front luggage/storage area and engine compartment were cleaned with 1Z APC, wiped down and then CarPro Dlux was the coating of choice.

Interior: Pinnacle Black Label Leather Cleaner was used to gently clean the acres of double stitched leather in this beauty. Pinnacle Black Label Leather Conditioner was utilized to feed the cow hide and keep it looking rich and nourished.

Metro Vacuum was used for vacuuming chores.

The exhaust tips/pipes were shot with 1Z APC, agitated and cleaned. They were then further refined and coated with Pinnacle Exhaust Cleaner and Brightener.

    Thanks for reading and looking!!!

Big Julio fan, but those orange wheels and big orange horse just hurts my eyes. When you get the contract he got (deservedly) he can buy any car he wants! Great job!
