    A very special 911. 1988 Porsche 911 Commemorative Edition

Hey all! I must say when I started doing this on the side a few years ago I did it for four reasons 1) I enjoy it 2) to decompress from my day job 3) the people I interact with and 4) the off chance I may get to work on something great. 2015 has been the year for the latter occurring often for myself and a couple weekends ago was extra special.

I have long been a fan of 911's and though I am an "M" owner, my heart still longs for a 911 of my own someday. Through the local BMW groups (for those starting out, referrals and networking are key), I had fellow BMW owner mention their father had a rare 911 that he was wanting to be showroom fresh as he was looking to list for sale immediately upon completion. I of course took the opportunity and was I in for a pleasant surprise.

What the photos show is a 1988 Porsche 911 Cabriolet Commemorative Edition. This particular car was just over 90K miles (I appreciate cars that are driven), three owner, full documentation and service records and included the even more rare G50 transmission from the 911 Turbo. This car was built to commemorate the 250,000 911 produced in 1987. Built in 1987 as a model year 1988 car, the Commemorative Edition 911 (also referred to as the Jubilee Edition) featured Diamond Blue Metallic paint on the exterior, with matching Fuchs wheels, and a Silver Blue Metallic interior with Porsche's signature script on the headrests. Though this one did not contain the dash plaque it was believed that was a UK only option but many examples have been found in the U.S. without. This car has been certified with Porsche as 100% authentic, and even includes the original disposable gloves for changing the spare! Around 100 examples were brought to the U.S. but not sure how many are still accounted for.

Enough history now on to the car. Overall the car was in great shape for a 27 year old weekend warrior. Zero chips, scratches, etc. and only mild swirls. The interior was in the roughest shape and saw a full steam, shampoo, extraction and leather treatment. Exterior and wheels saw foam bath, iron removal, clay, VERY mild polish, Menzerna Wax, and Wolfgang 3.0 Sealant, with trim receiving Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant. I steamed the engine and cleaned up that area but made sure to let the nature age shine through. Also pulled all carpet both inside and out to clean all the bugs, grime, and age that finds itself underneath carpet through 27 years of use.

Overall the car has been listed for top dollar with offers already on the table and I fortunately have gained a new client. Now onto the photos!

Wow Very Nice Work!! That Porsche is beautiful!! I am a Ford Guy and 2nd Detroit Muscle, however, when it comes to European Models I love Porsche's. Better than the Italians...LOL Again, beautiful ride!!

Hard to believe that ride is 27 years old!

Very cute Porsche now looks like original diamond blue metallic tiptop.
Air condition disinfection (air neutralizer) is a nice extra I use on all cars, especially classics. It makes the smell in the cabin like just out of the factory. Kills all germs, fungi, bacteria that live otherwise in the interior & make it not so pleasurable ( many know that some classic cars really stink inside).
A must have for car care professionals.

P.S. The only thing uncool is 217 HP but who cares, this is 27Y old Porsche!
