    2007 Volvo XC90

So this is what I started out with, a 2007 Volvo XC90. I live in Sweden but a business man from Sweden bought it new in Dubai when working there and then brought it with him back here

The wheels where in pretty bad shape

I started out using Iron-X and I've never seen wheels "bleed" like this before.

After that I hit the wheels with Valet Pros Bilberry Wheel Cleaner diluted 1:1 and the tyres got a good scrub with Meguiars Super Degreaser 4:1.

The lower parts where infested with tar. I don't think this car had ever been properly washed because it took me quite some time to get rid of all the tar. I used Meguiars Body Solvent to loosen it up in several stages.

When this was done I used CarPros Polyshave Clay Cloth over the entire car and some traditional clay on some really bad areas and eded up with this.

After drying the car this is what the paint looked like.

    2007 Volvo XC90-imageuploadedbyagonline1442083747-893856-jpg

I then took things inside and began masking of plastic trim and other areas of concern.
    2007 Volvo XC90-imageuploadedbyagonline1442083775-565544-jpg

Since this is a daily driver it was never going to be a multi step restoration but more of a "bring back some shine to the big beast".
I tried some different polishes/compounds, including M205 and M83, but ended up with a pretty odd solution. I had an old gallon of the Meg's M85 and used with LC Hydro Tech polishing pads I got good results.

Being a product with DAT, using little to no pressure on the last pass did the trick and I achieved a result I was happy with.
Here's a 50/50 on the mirror cap and the front bumper.

I used M205 and LC finishing pads on the pillars. Here's a before and after.

Since where heading towards fall and eventually winter I decided to use Chemical Guys Jet Seal.
Aplied via DA and cured for about an hour.

There seemed to be some trouble at the end there, I couldn't add more photos.
    But I'll continue here instead.

When the sealant cured I hit all the plastic trim with Wolfs Chemical Total Blackout.

Here's a 50/50 on the big plastic piece found on the back end of the roof.
    2007 Volvo XC90-imageuploadedbyagonline1442085366-034205-jpg

The tyres got some Meguiars Tyre Gel
    2007 Volvo XC90-imageuploadedbyagonline1442085486-165559-jpg

And this is the final result.

Really nice job, I take care of my daughter's 2006 XC90, they are big vehicles. That is quite a turnaround, hope the owner was happy.

    GREAT JOB, SIR!

How long did the job take you? You sure put some work into the vehicle. Hopefully, the owner showed how pleased he was.

It took me 13 hours. If it hadn't been for all the tar I probably would have been able to do it in 9-10 hours.
The owner was very pleased and wants me to do the interior soon. Seven seats with white leather, that's going to be interesting

    Thanks Mike!
    The owner was thrilled!

A couple of weeks ago I did a black 1995 Porsche 993 with a lot of holograms and swirls all over it. I'm working on a thread about that beauty.

If you want to post more pictures use this Easy Thumbnails | Fookes Software most people on AG use it.

In the end everything came out very nice for Volvo, you & your friend (tell him before he bought this car in Dubai it was first in Oman).

    Excellent job!

How did you find the paint on the XC90?
I have been reading that Volvo's have very hard paint however my XC90 seems to get swirls/scratches by just looking at it! It is a 2011 so I am thinking Volvo has cheaped out over the years on their paint quality. I picked up some M105/205 and optimum gloss coat to hopefully lock in the restored paint on mine.
