Am I Crazy? Detailing a Fridge??

My wife decided it was time we replace our Maytag refrigerator with a bigger one. It was about 5-6 years old and certainly has had a lot of use, but nothing extraordinary. Just a fridge in a family house.
Anyway, upon removing it from the house and moving it to the garage, I noticed the front of it looked like crap. Lots and lots of swirls and some scratches and even a few chips. Here's what I mean:

I've got my Lincoln headlights lighting it up to show everything!!

So, I break out my trusty Flex 3401 + Tuf Buff black wool pad + M100. That was followed by 3401 + burgandy Megs compound pad + M205. It was given an Eraser wipe down and then coated with Americoat. I think I improved it a bit although it wasn't perfect...

    Lincoln headlights on it again:

I put it on Kijiji (like a Canadian Craig's list) and literally sold it (for good money) in less than 24 hours. I also spent a few hours intensively cleaning the inside with UWW as well. It was well worth the effort.

And the new one? It got polished with Flex + Megs burg pad + M205 and was then double coated with a bit of CQF I had remaining from the last job. No pics of it, but it improved its appearance too.

Great idea! Great job! Now if you wanted to try a correction on the cat, you might have a problem...

When I very first started my business I did a few vintage coke machines for a guy, it's always fun doing those oddball jobs. Great work!

    Not at all!

A few months back my wife was cleaning our oven and couldn't get some stains off the inside of the door. Well I had the bright idea of compounding them off....well it worked!

I ended up doing both sides of the oven door, the glass stove top, the dish washer, and our fridge before I was done. They all came out great.

I even used a light polish to get the water stains off the inside of the dishwasher.
Yes I was a little bored that day.

I clean my stainless fridge with detailing spray when it needs it. It's got a clearcoat finish. Can't help myself. I've always liked a little sparkle, not just clean.

Re: Am I Crazy? Detailing a Fridge??

I just used Cquartz on our new counters, dishwasher and microwave! The dishwasher had what looked like a drip mark we couldn't wipe off so I used Megs Fine metal polish then coated it. The stove is gas with a black top so it got cleaned, IPA wiped and coated. Same went with the stainless microwave! We got man made solid surface counters that were marking from pots and pans so after soft scrubbing, they got IPA and coated as well. Sure has cut down on cleaning time!
