2012 Dodge Challenger R/T
2012 Dodge Challenger R/T Hemi
Black/Black
70,000 miles
5.7 liter V8, 375hp, 410tq, 6 spd manual
0-60 4.7 seconds
Modifications: Headers, hi-flow cats, SLP exhaust, K&N intake, tuner.
I have previously corrected and coated this vehicle. It fell victim to the owner’s home owners association having all of the roofs in the neighborhood pressure washed and bio-washed. Whatever chemicals used on the roof over sprayed onto the vehicle and spotted the coating as well as dulled the surface. The plastic hood scoop inserts and other plastics were pitted and needed to be replaced. The company attempted to wipe off the chemicals with who knows what, and trashed the surface of the vehicle. TONS of swirls and scratches were put into the clear. A shame.
The owner has heartbroken! He brought it over to see if there was anything that could be done and I found that I could polish out the damage, however I would be removing the coating. I would need to correct and coat the vehicle all over again.
Process/chemicals/tools/etc:
Adam’s car shampoo.
Griot’s medium mitt.
Adam’s APC was used to clean the engine compartment and wheel wells.

Rupes MkII 21.
Rupes iBrid/Nano.

22ple Mistico Elemento Forte was the LSP/Coating.
HD dress for tire dressing.

Thanks for looking and as always, comments and questions are welcomed!

Re: 2012 Dodge Challenger R/T
Man I feel with the owner! So unrespectfull from the company that did the roof washing and not take precaution so the vehicals can be removed to not getting any overspray from their work. It can be a lot of things that could happened. First the water spotting from the water they use. Then if they used some kind chemical cleaner with either high alkaline ph level of it or even acidic ones can be used. Some even use with ammonia in them that can really make a mess on where it gets on exept the roof. Then it's not so unusual that it has protection leaving behind to extend the time until the moss and algea comes back. This is often some kind of siloxane based protection in them. And we all know how a synthetic spray wax would look if you just spray it on the paint and walk away. If it's more like the spray on rinse off products chemicals in it it's even worse to be getting off. These also slightly acidic most of them and can also be etching the paint. This is a benefit on cement and rocks and such and not on a clear painted finish.
Awesome save Scott! And can only imagine the happieness the owner feeled when you could sort the mess out. Great write up and pictures as always!

Damn nice save, Scott!
I can't decide what is more pathetic:
The roof washing company being completely ignorant about about the consequences of spraying harsh chemicals all over one's vehicle(s), lawn, shrubs, children's play things, etc.
OR...... the workers trying to remove them (with God knows what like you mentioned).
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.
