    I took the leap

I had been practicing my technique on my 2002 black Volvo S60 for close to a year and recently made the jump to working on our 2013 black Volvo XC90. I spent an hour on the hood with Meguiars Ultimate Polish on the black polishing pad from Griots using GG 6". Here are some after shots. I really couldn't get the before swirls to show up in pictures. The power lines appear to look like scratches but that comes with polishing in an urban environment.

Looks great..... what steps did you go through prior to putting the DA on the hood?

    Re: I took the leap

I had done a full 2 bucket wash the day before and so this time I clayed with quick detailer as the lubricant to ensure all my sealants/waxes were removed. After claying the entire hood I did a test spot in the lower left and it did the trick so I repeated around the entire hood.

I have an S60 also, and my daughter has an XC90. I'd rather do my car twice than do her 90, man that thing is big! Great job on the hood, let us know how long the rest of it takes.

Thanks - I think you could do the S60 twice. I have done the rear quarter panels by DA and the hood. I have not tackled the roof. Not sure I will try and take that on.
