2014 Mazda 6 GT Paint Correction and BF Crystal Coat
I got this new (to me) 2014 Mazda 6 GT and it needed some paint correction. It had a lot of swirls from the previous owner. I also had bought the new BF Crystal Coat for this vehicle.
Products used:
- Duragloss 902
- Nanoskin Clay Towel
- Meg's 105 (For the hood, roof and trunk)
- Menzerna SI 1500 (for all other vertical surfaces)
- Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion
- BF Crystal Coat
- Mother's Aluminum Polish
- Optimum Opti-bond Tire Gel
First, let me introduce my new assistant, Mila. She is a ferocious guard dog, she let me know whenever a bird got too close to the garage.
I won't bore you with pictures of washing and "claying." I've been using the Nanoskin towel for awhile and I really like it. It gets the job done
As you can see, plenty of swirls.
The 105 was needed for the horizontal surfaces of the paint, they were more difficult to work with. The rest of the car got the Menz SI1500
I did the roof of the car from start to finish, claying, polishing, BF coating so I could have a good idea of what the finished product would look like. As you can see, the coating gives an awesome reflection
I also used the SI1500 on the painted door pillars.

My last step after all the coating was applied was to polish up my tail pipes. They were grungy looking and needed some shine as well.

Now, for some reflection shots!
Mila standing produly by the finished product!
The next day we had some rain and I really like the way the water beads on the coating
I'm sure some of you may ask what I thought of the BF coating. It was very easy to work with. As with most products, a little goes a long way. The high spots were easy to knock down.
I also noticed that is the first product I've used where you can visually see where you have missed a spot. The wet look the coating creates makes it very easy to see if you missed a spot. I really like this and I was able to make sure I didn't miss anywhere.

I am sure Mila didn't scratch the finish or piss on the wheels BTW how did you share the reward for the work, 50/50 I guess. You made Mazda look like Mercedes, now all it needs is rain to see water beading of it.
P.S. Your photos are too big, page loads too slow.

Very nice work! That black paint looks great!
Did you follow up SI1500 with anything after or just go straight to Coating?
I also found this is a very easy to use Coating. On the Blue Focus I did, I noticed the Coating displays a nice darkening effect.

She was very good and didn't jump on the car at all...I was surprised she didn't try. She mostly laid in the shade and just watched. We had frequent bathroom breaks so the grass got the brunt of her pee. She was rewarded for her "work" with a nice, new antler to chew on.

I used the Paintwork Cleaning Lotion after the SI. I used that on the entire car with the polisher after correction was done. I've found that this product works very well before LSP.

It's in the middle. I did a Mazda 3 a couple years ago and I thought that paint was on the softer side, but mine seemed to be a little harder than that.
I honestly could have been more aggressive with paint correction, but the car is my DD and I was a little limited on time so I used what would get the job done.
