Noobie's Second Full Detail: Landcruiser
I decided to use my wife's Landcruiser as my "test car"..trying different products and working on my DA technique. The paint is in good condition. A month ago, I corrected it with CG V4 (AIO)/ 7424XP with orange and white pads. I wanted to experiment with different LSPs so...
Process:
Wash- (paint) CG Citrus Wash and Gloss (1oz/gallon) to strip old LSP (wheels) Megs Gold class, diablo wheel gel, Speed brush.
Dry- leafblower, Guzzler WW and gary dean's as drying aid.
Prep- p21s paint cleansor
Glaze- CG EZ Creme glaze 7424 and Blue hexlogic pad/ 530gsm buff
Seal- Mseal with 7424 and red hexlogic/530gsm buff
Wax- Pinnacle paste wax, CG foam applicator, 530gsm buff
Topper- V7, 480 gsm edgeless
Trim- BareBones, VRP and 303
Glass- Meg's glass cleaner

Passing the addiction on....

Things I learned and question:
1) my arms were beat up after using the 7424 all day..vibrated right out of the shoulder socket LOL. Am I just a whimp or is this normal?
2) I have a tendency to apply the paste wax too thick, but I'm paranoid about scratching the paint
Question- I can't seem to get all the product out of the pads. I use pad cleaner and water as soon as I'm done, scrub with pad brush, but there's still staining from product ...suggestions? soak them in concentrated soap?

Beautiful work!! Just want to say WOW!!!
As for your arms and shoulders being in pain...that is normal; especially with the PC. I have one and man you are correct you will get beat up....LOL NO! You are not a wimp!!
Might I suggest applying the wax with your PC. It will be faster, more uniform in application and will go on thin. Just flip the wax onto the pad and then blip the throttle and then flip the wax back. Apply the wax with the DA.
Try it and once you get used to it that will change your way of applying wax. You can apply wax with the foam applicator on the hard to reach areas.
Any who...beautiful work!!

Thanks CJ and thanks for the Pinnacle...Its GREAT. I'll try using the DA. TO be honest, I was tired of it by the time I got to the wax, that decided to go with hand application. I'm giving serious thought to a flex or GG.

Beautiful work and nice pics! Very well done.
Nope, not a wimp - I'm pretty much beat after a process like yours too.
Definitely suggest using the DA to apply wax - I was reluctant at first but it makes it very easy to put it on thin...I use a crimson pad and no worries about scratching anything.

If you get the Flex you will cut down your correcting time by at least 50%. I now use my PC sparingly (only when I want to). The Flex will save your arms!! LOL

Nice work.
FYI:Getting a GG6 would be like getting a PC with more power and more vibration.

Great job, I'm really thinking about biting the bullet and getting a rupes, my griots is really vibrating my hands and arms to the point where I'm not enjoying detailing my car anymore
Is the rupes really that much smoother? I wish I knew someone who had one so I could try it out.

Super smooth, I did this Camaro yesterday with my Duetto and 75E. You can basically hold the Rupes with one hand and it just glides over the surface. I have a 15 too. Love the Duetto, it's my favorite tool by far. I had a PC and a GG6.

Get a small bucket and liquid Dawn dish washing soap. Use very warm or hot water and soak the pads with the Dawn. Squeeze the pads and scrub (maybe 2 to 4 times or when the pads are back to mostly their original color). Make sure you rinse it A LOT!
I just cleaned my pads this way about an hour ago. Worked on a Range Rover over the weekend.
