The GOAT!!!
Got the call to take a look at a recently purchased GTO. This one will be coming in for a multi-step paint correction, interior and complete protection. Stay tuned for full before and afters as well as a write up on the process to bring this black back to looking like an endless pool of water!

Re: The GOAT!!!
I would assume that that is a single stage paint. If so Mike Philips has an excellent write up on single stage paint

Nope, it has been re-sprayed, but it has a lot of paint on it. The car was never washed correctly after it was re-sprayed.

Re: The GOAT!!!
So over the holidays I was delivered the 69 GTO. This is an all numbers matching, 58,000 original miles car. The new owner had never seen the car without scratches, so I wanted to really show out on this detail. We agreed upon a price that would include taking delivery of the vehicle on the Friday after Christmas and spending 5 days sanding, polishing and refining the finish, then topping everything off with Swissvax Concorso for the deep dark wet finish.
Here is the run down of steps and products:
Interior was cleaned with 1Z Einzett Deep Plastic cleaner and steam via the VX5000 with ONR in the tank. Then protected with 303 Aerospace.
Exterior was dampsanded with the Griots Garage DA and 3M Trizact system, starting with 3000, then going to 5000.
Initial sanding cut was taken out with the Rupes 15 and Megs MF Cutting disc and M205.
Polishing was then completed using Sonax Perfect Finish and the Rupes Yellow and white pads.
Tires were protected to look new with 303 Aerospace. Vinyl top was cleaned with steam and then protected with 303.
Swissvax Concorso was applied and allow to cure for over an hour before gently removing to reveal the Piano Black finish underneath.
Enjoy the pictures.

Small area refinement
Classic!
The paper is my list of things to finish before it is done, if you don't plan, you can sometimes miss the small items.
50/50, What we started with and what we ended with.
Finals:
I hope you enjoyed the pictures as much as I enjoyed detailing this Classic American Muscle car.
