1968 Dodge Charger R/T - Anthony's Auto Detailing in Clementon, NJ

I was contacted by Mike at Classic Auto in Middletown, NJ to correct this 1968 Charger, which happens to be one of my dream cars. Despite working around Ferrari's and Lamborghini's, nothing has gotten be quite as excited as getting to work on this vehicle. After seeing some of his restoration work, I was very excited to be working with someone of his caliber. Mike is the kind of guy that cuts no corners. He spent almost 8 years restoring this car.

The car itself is a 440 with a 727 trans. They bought it off ebay 8 years ago, and it was "96% restored"...which was a load of crap, as the car had to be 100% torn down and rebuilt. The car was painted two years ago, and had quite a bit of a mess from the body shop, not to mention people having their hands on it and wiping dust off for the past two years.

Now unfortunately, my write-up will not be very in-depth as I just did not have the time. I only had about 10 hours to correct this car as much as possible. I used the Kevin Brown Method with M205 and Meg's cutting MF's on my Rupes 15, then finished it off with Optimum's Hyper Polish on yellow Rupes pads. To seal the vehicle, I used CarPro's Reload.

    Now onto the detail:

    Before:

This is ONLY after M205 and MF, no finishing polishing yet, so the marring is pretty rough:

Again, no finish polish yet, and the clarity is drastically improved:

    Final shots:

I did what I could with the sun where it was...very tough to get sun shots at the end of the day as I ran out of light:

I apologize for the low number of pictures, but there was a LOT of car to work on in such a short window, as the car was being revealed to the owner the next day.

    Thanks for looking!

    She's a beauty!!!
Thanks for tagging me on FB Detailer Buddies so I could see this.

In terms of the "KBM M205"... was it cut using a mass quantity of M205 via microfiber? Did you follow up after the cutting step using a foam pad, or instead super-clean the microfiber and do a slow finessing pass? Or... the 12 drops of M205 to a quart of water?!

Thumbs up Re: 1968 Dodge Charger R/T - Anthony's Auto Detailing in Clementon, NJ

I'm not a Mopar fan by any stretch of the immagination but the 68' Charger is one I'd have in my collection if I were lucky enough to win the lotto, no doubt about it! The one you detailed is exactly what I would want too, black hardtop, it just looks MEAN! When driving something around that looks like that how do you NOT get out of its way coming down the road, very intimidating looking!!! I love the redlines and polished Torque Thrusts too, completes the look! I guess in my dream 68' Charger I'd have a modern HEMI drivetrain w/ a 6 spd, updated suspension bits and 4 wheel disc brakes and that would enable me to drive the wheels off it, probably losing 6 hubcaps in the process, LOL (I'm sure several of you get that)

As far as the job done, WELL DONE! Pretty amazing what just M205 was able to do, did you use ultra thin masking tape to mask off the edges where the body is styled? I hope the owner really appreciated the job you did and really enjoyed it the night he picked it up, I know I sure would!!!
