Lexus CT200h - Paint correction and Opti-Coat Pro

I recently had this few weeks old Lexus CT200h hybrid hatchback come in for Opti-Coat Pro application. Knowing that it was a solid black car, there was bound to be some minor correction at the very least as this of all colours is the most unforgiving for showing up scratches and other imperfections.
Once washed and decontaminated with new mild clay bars, it was evident that this car wasn’t going to be straight forward, at all!

There was polish residue lodged in most crevices by the dealership and scratches of every type can be found of varying degrees. What was supposed to be a new car protection ended up as a two day, three stage correction.

It was initially hit with the Flex rotary, Hydrotech cutting pad and ArtDeShine Fine Compound, refined with the Big Foot, various finishing pads and Sonax Perfect Finish, then finished with Big Foot, CCS Gold and CarPro Reflect.

As this was a big task at hand, I only captured some before and after’s indoors. In my opinion, solid black paint is the hardest to get right and maintain, but when it is spot on there is no other colour which can match it for reflections, depth and gloss. This one was very rewarding to do, and even though it took much longer than expected, the results were rather impressive.

I'm not the biggest camera buff, but learning from a few friends I understand and can also can tell when photo's don't represent the actual condition. I see it all the time, but for my own conscience I always try to shoot as accurately as I can. I truly appreciate that you noticed.

Cheers HUMP! I also own an Obsidian Black car so feel the maintenance pain, but the satisfaction of it when it's clean is undeniable.

How long did the paint correction take?

Ta Zelfiris, the correction on this for all three stages took almost 10 hours, and end to end was 14 over two days.
