Opel Corsa Headlight Restoration done by Etienne

On Thursday I got a call from someone looking to restore headlights on a Opel Corsa. Booked the car for Friday afternoon and this is how it went down.

Upon arrival

I normally do 1 headlight at a time instead of both lights together every step of the way. I started off by sanding all the oxidation off the light.

After Sanding

I then got out my polisher with polishing pads and some Menz SF4000 and polished the light till it was crystal clear. I wiped the light to remove any polish residue left on the light before sealing it. After applying my sealant this is what it looked like

Comparison

While sanding the 2nd light my first light gets some UV light treatment to help cure the UV sealant ( sounds weird I know :twisted: ) when all of a sudden this happened

The rain was so bad that I had to stop work. It ruined my sealant so I quickly had to strip it off the light. Saturday morning I finished the 2nd light and sealed them both afterwards. This was the outcome before the client came to fetch his bakkie from me.

Owner was happy with the outcome and so was I :troll:

Nicely done. What grit was used for the sanding?

Thanx bud. I range from 600 - 2000.

Hand sanding? Or with power tool? Also unigrit sandpaper with water? Last one where you get that uv and what sealant you use?

Yes I sand it down by hand with unigrid sandpaper and water. The UV sealant is something I made by myself , similar to the hellsman spar urethane mixture you guys in USA make up.
