Yep they ruled the streets for a long time. For 1500 bucks you were running low 12's.

I agree and I had one in the mid 90's and a former co-worker of mine bought one and spent $1k, I watched the entire process and we went to the track and his original 51k car w/ the $1k in mods went 12.56 @106 mph, stock turbo/IC/inj/eng/trans too! My car had modded turbo/FMIC/inj/full exhaust and other mods but had 120k on the clock and had worn valve springs and tired trans but ran 12.68 @109 mph.

86 and 87's are the way to go, don't forget Limited's, T-types and turbo T's too, same drivetrains other than no 8.5" rearends, only the GN's had those.

I agree and don't under stand why they'd use the 7.5" in the turbo Regals, the Monte Carslo, Grand Prix 2+2, Olds Gutless 4-4-2 (yes, still 442 in the mid 80's, 4 barrel, 4 speed auto and 2 exhaust) and Hurst's only had 180 hp and not too much torque, turbo Regals on the other hand had 355 ft/lbs in 87' @2000 rpms, all "rated", I say this because sneezing a couple bucks would make that go over 400 ft/lbs easily and w/ basic mods that everyone did made 500 ft/lbs a reality!

Ahhhh, the good old days of 1987!

Not to draw away at the topic at hand but GM got smart and instituted the 9 bolt after the demise on the 7.5.
