Ivan Karstuff at home in the Ozarks

What a lucky fellow Ivan must be, to have won a home with me in an Autogeek online contest! I quickly drummed up an order so that I could get my Ivan AND a few goodies that were (all of the sudden) must haves for my detailing collection. Just like that, Ivan was whisked away from Nick@Autogeeks cozy desk to the UPS guy and, in short order, to my doorstep!

It only seems ironically appropriate that the week following Ivan Karstuff's arrived in the Ozarks was filled with nasty weather. In true Midwest/Ozarks fashion, temps ranged from a pleasant 65 degrees down to a blisteringly cold 22 degrees, complete with freak 24 hour snowstorm that melted away almost as quickly as it came!

Ivan spent a few days cooped up in my garage but there's no central heat, he forgot to bring a jacket (Its supposed to be spring, remember?) plus there is only one car to look at and obsessively spray wax, so he asked for a transfer to the spot I spend most of my days! (He'd been informed, it seems, of my station in life... and he forgot to bring his fishing pole!)

There's a new boss on the showroom, folks! Ivan seems satisfied with the full sized cars (he obviously hasn't laid hands on the red ATS, its bare naked!) but was completely appalled by the condition of his demos.

"But Ivan, they don't actually run... And you don't have a license anyway!"

I recognize that look already. It clearly says "but I brought my DA..?"

So we make the rounds on the showroom and collect all Ivan's new rides.... they're scattered here and there, and extremely neglected! The line up:

    The Cadillacs:

Bought new in 2004 they are still new, less than a mile on their odometers collectively... Covered in dust, we'll see what we can do with them...

    The XL Denali:

a pimp ride, but it has a few miles on it! Look really close and the swirls and scratches stick out pretty bad:

Even the wheels are pretty grungy!

    Then there's the Trans Am:

What a classic! Another dust bunny, it should be decent after we get the "rough knocked off"

First a good waterless wash with Detailers Pride:

And a quick interior scrub in every nook and cranny, courtesy of the Daytona Speed Master Jr (Ivan simply didn't have the grip strength for the full sized brush, good thing we bought that combo!!) :

I'd bet that's the first time that hatch area and third row has ever seen a detailer! lovin the Daytona product!!!

Remember my claim that the Cadillacs were all new? Well here's proof that new cars get damage too!

looks like this one got a little paint transfer sitting on a lot... Lil Ultimate compound on a cyan LC pad and:

    Presto change-O!!

The scratches and swirls in the XL Denali?
    Before:

    After:

The entire fleet came out looking like new!

And so It was that Ivan and Cricket became fast friends, and all was well in the Ozarks..

    Until the next adventure!!

    BTW:
Have you shown these detailed-vehicles to your detailing-buddy back in the shop area yet?

Maybe the 'pro' detailer at Twenter's can learn from Ivan via osmosis.

Thanks guys... Glad someone else enjoyed it, I asked the boss to read the preview before I posted it and he just krinkled his nose and gave me a funny look...
