    Smile Training Course In Englandshire........

    Evening all!!

Today I hosted another one of my One to One courses dedicated to what the customer wanted training on; today was paint correction by rotary.

Also, for Mirror Finish today marks a major mile stone in the company as we will be in our 8th year trading. I cannot believe I set up valeting 7 years ago and have progresses through some real hard times in the recession to still be trading and being constantly busy. Much to her in door's delight as it keeps me out of the house!!!!

Plans for the future, really to keep it simple. Almost there with the PDR stuff, going to do free ones at first on customers cars then look at charging, may put a van on the road valeting and really going to concentrate on the coatings and move the business to a new level.

However, today was another day of training and a great few guys turned up from Telford. I always allow a mate on the one to one's. The objective was to train with the rotary and to put many myths to bed that this is not the fire breathing paint stripping dragon a lot say. Used correctly it is an easy machine to master.

I tailor all courses and the first part is quite a bit of me talking and showing demos before customers get to play.

My car Rod the BMW was up for polishing again after a visit to the local IMO to put some swirls in it, which the car wash did very nicely for £1.99. So, the plan was to remove these via a compound, polish and final finish. Most of the car has been sanded twice, compounded a fair few times now and still showing about 74um on the paint; so only about 26um taken off so far. Good for a few more courses. It, goes to show in reality how much you can correct a car if the clear is thick enough.

The guys had a great day, were totally taken away by the minimal amounts of clear removed to remove the swirls to final finish. We had a small bit to wet sand and machine back and the readings were just the same as a normal panel but we take the peel out, easy really.

This prooves a real point that wet sanding is not rocket science and is more than effective to remove the peel and take off NO more paint than compounding, just takes longer!!

The real eye opener was the Rupes Big Foot, the speed of correction even on BMW paint and finished with the rotary was literally minutes per panel; makes a day enhancement almost like a correction.

Various courses ran every month, one to ones available week days as well, don't buy the gear and do your car under my supervision is always popular or a bespoke courses designed just for you. Give me a call for pricing, always happy to help!!!

    Some pics from today.
    It is swirly honest.

First go with a rotary with a finishing pad.

Getting to grips with it. Once they learn not to strangle to machine and just hold it it all comes to them so ready for some wool pad and Scholl S2.

After wool pad S2, polishing pad S17 and 3M blue pad and UltraFina and first go with a rotary, looks good to me.

After initial finishing pad moved up to a polishing pad.

Nice machine control and speed about 1200rpm, ideal for polishing. Love the concentration.

After refining, looks good to me.

The course was also about wet sanding and as one wing on the BMW had not been sanded this was then done. Usual 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000 grit papers were used leaving a generally matt flatted panel. This pic was after 4000 grit. All sanded by hand.

Polishing back the wet sanding. It was compounded with wool pad and S3 first.

Almost finished, this is after wool pad and S2/S3, polishing pad with S17 and 3m blue pad and UltraFina and plenty of wet sands before.

The real eye opener for the guys was the Rupes 15 Big Foot. I had put extra swirls in the boot lid for this with a grubby sponge and with the Big Foot with the yellow pad and Britamax AOI I would say almost 85% correction was achieved in about 15 minutes. Left to dry and buffed left a lovely glassy waxed finish. Simples!!!!

All in all a great training day and two super happy customers waiting to attack their cars.

If you want to attend a course give me a call.

    Thanks for reading.
    Steve
