    F150 10.5 hour detail

So yesterday was the day i decided to detail my 2010 f150...

The DG 501/601 DG 105/601 topped with Collinite 845 was my winter protection... Well after 7 months, it was still holding strong, as it took 3 washes of Optimum Power Clean... The last of the three washs was a 50/50 mixture, and even then there were some spots which were beading but i figured the claying and polishing would remove the rest of the protection left behind.

So lets get to the description of the detail...

    Products used:
    Porter Cable DA
Lake Country 5.5 inch flat foam pads (Orange, Black, Blue)
    Optimum Hyper Polish
    Menzerna PO85RD
    Duragloss 105/601
    Duragloss Aqua Wax
    Ultima Tire and Trim Guard
Megs Hot Rims Mag and Aluminum Polish
Megs Gold Class Endurance Tire Gel

I was planning on using Optimum Opti-Seal due to the UV protection, as my truck is outside 24/7... But after talking to Jerry at Duragloss he informed me, in his own words "105 has some of the best / most expensive UV blocking agents in it"... After hearing that i was set on using the 105/601 combo...

So after claying i polished with Hyper Polish and LC Orange pad... The paint was corrected but the metal flake was just 'ok'... So i then applied the PO85RD on a LC black pad, which really made the metal flake pop... I finally topped with DG 105/601 using a LC Blue pad...

All chrome was polished and the DG combo then applied. Finally the UTTG was applied to all black trim including the tonnea cover.

My detailing quarters for the day!

Here is what the paint looked like after claying... the flake did a great job of hiding the swirls and scratches, but i tried my hardest to get a pic of them.

After the hyper polish the paint looked pretty good.

Then it was time for the PO85RD and pull the truck outside to see what the paint looked like... Sorry it was cloudy out, so no sun pics.

    BUILT FORD TOUGH!!! LOL

Finally shots with the DG combo and UTTG applied.

Woke up today and it was finally sunny out!!! Threw on a coating of DG Aqua Wax and stepped back and admired the results!!!

I must really say the Menzerna 85RD really made a difference when it came to making the flake pop!

I know you are probably wondering why someone would bother polishing out a pickup, but hey if you're going to haul wood, stone, fill, or whatever it be, you gotta have the best looking truck IMO! HAHA

    Thanks for looking guys...

P.S. - you guys that detail for a living, i have so much respect for you... after 10.5 hours of detailing my truck, i don't know how you guys do it day in and day out... My back, legs, and shoulders were so sore last night... And i consider myself a very fit person!

Thanks Ryan... It really did... I couldn't believe it, for sitting outside all winter long, not to mention all the 4x4'ing through the woods and corn fields during hunting season.

I understand why it took 10 1/2 hours. It looks great and the flake does pop. Thanks for sharing the photos and technique/products.
