Re: While detailing today I had an Idea
I did this to my Z06 when I had it...was quick, easy and cheap but made a huge difference in the overall appearance of the car.

You've never heard of, or seen a Porsche that someone had a notion to "Jazz it up" a little bit?
All the OP did was to personalize his ride. A lot of folks do this...no matter their ride. It's an individual's choice. Although there are 'purists' who think otherwise. I sometimes get the "what'd ya do that for" and that also makes me break out in a big grin.

I used Frog Tape,, it is green and states no leakage under it. You can find it at
Walmat/Home Depot or Lowes in the paint section. It sure did work great. I also
cleaned the area with deluded alcohol, to ensure that no wax or oils remained.
Curves are tricky, but here is a cool trick that helps. After you are done and
remove the tape, get some 1/8" pin strip that matches the color of the cars paint and
follow the edge. This make all the curves and lines look perfect.
Hope this helps you out,
Tom

You should look into Plasti-dip in the aerosol can. It is temporary and will not harm the finish in any way. Once you're done, you simply peel it up and it comes off fairly easy.
I've used it to see how some wheels would look powder coated black with a polished lip.
I say you do it though!

I think we have a few other members who have been using that...then they usually recommend some product that isn't sold here...

I think it looks much better.

Looks good! I've seen a few C5s done like this, and I definitely like it. On darker colors it doesn't work as well but with red it really pops.
