That really is a fantastic result. My concern would be that rattle-can clear seems to yellow pretty fast, since it's not a real catalyzed 2K clear. Of course, with the color of that car, you might not even notice any yellowing.

How fast does it typically yellow?

Depends on UV exposure. In your Florida sun? I'd wager pretty fast.

That said, you CAN actually get 2K clear in a rattle can; just beware that any time you work with an isocyanate activated clear you need to take a lot more safety precautions. Also note that once you activate that product inside the can, it has a pot life of I think 48 hours after which point the whole can is no good anymore.

Yeah, sorry, I wasn't meaning to imply that you can't get a rattle can of 2K clear, because I have learned on here that you can. I did a touchup on a curbed wheel and even got special wheel clear (at pep boys ) but a few years down the road it looks terrible.

And that's really important that you mention the isocyanates, that and the HF wheel acids are really things that people need to be careful with.

Wow thank you all for your kind words. I don't do many long posts like this it just takes so long. But to get a compliment from cee dog on documentation is humbling to say the least. Thank you. I never considered the yellowing factor just didn't know. But if it does, well, then maybe I'll just get the 2k clear and do it again since I've proven to myself that it can be done. Thanks for the heads up. I'll keep an eye on this to see how long it lasts and keep you guys posted. I haven't waxed over the area yet I wanted to make sure it was cured first. Anyone know how long I should wait given it's spay can clear does it cure faster?

Great job and great stones trying this in the first place. I think it turned out nice!

I've heard someone else mention back masking also and o think I will be trying it out on something because I really am curious to see the results.

You did a great job on the repair.

Interesting. I have clear that started chipping off after a rock hit it at highway speeds.

Think it could work here? These are older pics, I have since chipped off the loose clear, but its roughly the same size still.
