Detailed a Dodge Viper GTS
A friend of mine bought this a couple weeks ago and asked me to detail it for him. It's a 1998 Dodge Viper GTS. The original owner modded it to look like the GTS-R concept. It also has ported heads, cams, exhaust, intake and makes 475 whp. On top of that the car has racing coilovers, a half-cage, a fire suppression system, 5-point harnesses, big Stoptech brakes and BBS LM's, new front bumper w/driving fogs for night racing. In short, it's a badass car and ready to tear up a road course.
I didn't do a full paint correction to remove all defects as that's not what was asked for, but the Megs Ultimate Compound came out very well even though it was a difficult to work on as the clear coat was rock hard. I'm pretty sure it's been at least re-cleared as the stripes are not original. Products I used were:
- Meguiar's Gold Class car wash
- Meguiar's Ultimate spray wax (lube for clay as my other stuff ran out early)
- Griot's paint clay and Meguiar's aggressive red clay
- Griot's heavy duty wheel cleaner
- Porter Cable 7424 polisher (still waiting on my replacement Meguiar's polisher)
- Lake Country 5.5" yellow flat polishing pads
- Meguiar's Ultimate Compound
- Chemical Guys 5.5" Black finishing hex pad
- Wolfgang deep sealant 3.0
If anybody is looking to try a new paint sealant I would highly recommend the Wolfgang. Application and removal were very easy and it looks stunning. I'm really happy I picked up a sample of it and will be getting a full bottle for my birthday.
Here are some pictures.
This is the type of swirling/fine scratches that were present on most of the car.
Here's a couple 50/50 shots on the hood (the second one is from my cell phone). I didn't realish how dull the color was until polishing it. Pretty big difference.
And here's how it looks afterwards.
My favorite picture that I snapped. It really shows off the glow of the Wolfgang sealant.

Very cool car. I like the front and side splitters. That rear diffuser looks wicked!! Nice job. Looks like the LM's come out good.

Honestly I only drove it from the driveway in to the garage. I'd love to take it out for a spin though. Riding in it was pretty exciting as it was.

It was pretty cool working on my first semi-exotic car. Those curves took a long time to work on though.

Who ever owned the car appears to have done a professional job with the modifications and now that the detailing is finished the modification is now complete.
I hope your friend appreciates the quality of your work.....
Thanks. My friend was pretty thrilled with how it looks and can't wait to start finding car meets on the weekends to hang out at. This is his first hot rod so he's pretty pumped.

Nice work on an amazing machine.
Viper = BEAST

FWIW, I own a Corvette and thought it was awesome. Sense of humor
goes a long way.
