2009 Malibu and Megs Microfiber pads

Well, despite less than ideal weather I really wanted to try the new Megs microfiber pads, D300 compound and D301 finishing wax.
The guinea pig would be a 09' Malibu that spent it's first year as a rental car before being sold to a car dealership and then purchased by the current owner.

    Process:
A thorough pressure washing then foamed with CG Citrus shampoo and 2 buckets with grit guard wash using microfiber "bone" wash sponge.
Clayed with DP clay and DP clay lube.
Megs 5" microfiber cutting pads with D300 compound on a G110v2. It would have been really nice to have the 3" cutting pads on hand for the smaller areas but I guess those will arrive at a later date.
Megs 5" and 3" microfiber finishing pads and D301 finishing wax.
Interior was vacuumed and DP Total Interior cleaner used.
All interior and exterior rubber/plastic treated with 303.
Engine cleaned with Optimum Power Clean at 3:1 and treated with 303.
Door jams and painted interior of hood sealed with Klasse AIO.

    Before:

Here is the megs cutting pad and D300 compound.

Before (I had a hard time capturing the swirls and scratches, wish I had a darker car to better show just how swirled and scratched the paint was).

    After:

    Before:

    After:

Passenger side rear door after D300:

Sun was going down by the time I finished and owner was on his way to pick up the car so this is the best "sun" shot I could get.

    Rest of the afters:

I'd have to use the microfiber system on more cars before I could give a full write up but overall I liked it.
    Pro's:
1-2 pads per car is all that is needed. I could have easily used just one 5" cutting pad but decided to use the second one 3/4 of the way through just to test out both pads to see if one might fail.
I have a 20 gallon air compressor so cleaning was very easy. Literally 5-6 seconds to clean with air after each panel.
Durability seemed very good as I didn't get any chunks or tufts of microfiber or foam to come off while using the pads.
The D300 and D301 both smell nice while not being overpowering imo. Neither dust enough to even be worth mentioning. Nor is there much of any splatter to worry about. Removal of both is a breeze.
The D300 has a very long working time.

    Cons:
I think I should test it all out on more cars before I can form a complaint. If I had to come up with one though, it would be that at least on the 09' Malibu, a little more cutting power with less required force would be nice.

All in all, I think that the D300 and mf cutting pads will become pretty popular tools in the every growing arsenal.
Once the weather starts getting nicer I'll make sure the next car I do is black.

That thing was in a sorry state but you made it new again. Nice work! Thanks for sharing both the work and your thoughts on the new system.

Funny you mention that, because yes, the carpets were a pita! On occasion I would look at the vacuum nozzle to check to see if it were blocked. I resorted to picking up a lot of things.

I did a 09 Malibu also, and the carpet was a PITA, but I use a brush to help the process..
