A little work on my 01 Cobra

Well, I got all my new stuff in, so I decided to give the car a detail.

    Products used:
    Adams Car Shampoo
    Megs APC
Mothers Clay Bar and QD as Lube
    Chemical Guys Grime Reaper
    Optimum Hyper Compound Spray
    Optimum Hyper Polish Spray
    Chemical Guys EZ Creme Glaze
    Blackfire Wet Diamond

    Materials
    Chenille Microfiber Wash Sponge
    Flex LK603VVB Rotary
Lake Country 1-Pad Polishing System (Orange/White/Grey)
    Porter Cable 7424
Lake Country CCS Smart Pads (Blue)
    Multiple Scrub Brushes
    Homelite Elec Blower
    DI Microfibers

The first thing was the wheel wells, tires, and wheels. I used the Megs APC diluted to clean the wheels and tires, and the CG Grime Reaper diluted for the wheel wells. The CG GR is a very strong degreaser. I will buy more of this. I liked it.

Then came a nice bath in Adams Shampoo and Megs APC. After the bath I blew the car dry and checked the paint for contamination. Not much at all. I decided to use the clay bar anyways and pull out what was there.

After the clay bar I started with the Optimum Hyper Compound applied with the orange 1 time use pad on my flex. I liked the compound although it does not cut as well as Megs 105 or Megs UC. It had great work time and had NO dusting at all.

After that I went to a white pad on the Flex and applied the Hyper Polish. Loved this stuff. Went on and off easy, finished great.

After a IPA wipedown (70% IPA diluted) I moved on to the Chemical Guys EZ Creme Glaze on the Grey pad with my Flex. Again, another great product. Probably could have better filling ability though.

After a coat of glaze, and an hour break, I followed up with a blue pad on my PC and the BFWD. I applied two coats of BFWD waiting an hour between coats. Very easy on and off. This stuff goes a LONG way.

    And on to the pics.

Nasty wheel wells. I will add an after pic once I wax the wheels and dress the tires.

Just a pic of how well the AutoGlym HD was holding up after over a month and a half without washing.

My swirling on the trunk along with the water spots.

After just the compound (don't mind the trunk plugs. They are getting replaced)

After the polish and an IPA wipedown

    After the Glaze

    After BFWD

Re: A little work on my 01 Cobra

Ok, here is part 2. Today I waxed the car with Chemical Guy's Pete's 53, and topped it a few hours later with Duragloss Aqua Wax. Amazing results IMO. While I was waiting to apply the duragloss, I went ahead and put a coat of wheel wax on the wheels. Then I treated the tires to a little bit of Mothers Protectant. After that the top got dressed in 303 Aerospace Protectant, and the rest of the exterior trim got a coat of Adam's VRT. Inside the car was not bad. It only needed a little dusting, vaccuuming, and some VRT to make it look good. THe glass was all cleaned with Stoners.

    Now on to the pics.

I love the way the car came out.

Taken with my phone later in the day.

I will be writing the review on the pads this evening. I really did like them though.

Thanks guys. Not only is the car 10 years old, but it is my daily driver. I take it from Naples to Ft Stewart (Savannah) and back atleast once a month, with trips to Atlanta, Augusta, and Tampa on a regular basis as well. It has 125K on it!

Whats your secret with not having any dents in your car? I remember when our family bought a 4runner new in 03. Less then 2 weeks someone made a dent on our car from opening their car.

Dont park next to people......a little walk from the back of the parking lot doesnt hurt.

If you're at a store with shopping carts...DO NOT park next to the collection points....if it's on a hill....try to park at the top of it. You get the point, use your imagination.

Yeah I usually park as far as possible with my TSX. Last year during winter I saw like 6 shopping carts flying all over the place hit at least 15 cars
