2005 Nissan Altima - Paint Correction

2005 Nissan Altima – Paint Correction
You may have seen some of my pictures from a thread that featured wetsanding and surbuf pads.
I did this correction for my sister as a Christmas gift. It was completed over 4 days and totaled about 16 hours. The car sits outside 24/7 and was in pretty rough shape. The entire car took a two step, M105/Surbuf and M205/White CCS all on a PCXP. The trunk was wetsanded because of some pretty deep scratches. Interior was also cleaned up. The hood had some pretty deep scratches that I didn’t want to risk wetsanding, appeared to be from bird droppings. Headlights were also restored.
    Paint Correction Products Used
    M105, M205, M21
Surbuf, White CCS (5.5 inch pads), Yellow and Green (4 inch pads)
PCXP, 5inch and 3.5 inch backing plates
    Halogen work lamp
After pictures aren’t great and don’t do justice but the car looks so much better. Actually looks black now compared to the grey color it looked like before.

Wow, huge difference between before and after! The finish looked to be in pretty rough shape and those Surbuf combined with the compound and polishes you used really brought the finish back nicely!

No wonder they say having a black car if a full time (detailing) job. Looks great, love the 50/50 shots.

Thanks for the comments guys. It was alot of fun to work on, even though it wasnt a paid job. Sometimes it feels better to see your family smile then to get paid.

That Altima looks great! The difference is huge and the paint looks really wet. How would you rate the paint's hardness?

Re: 2005 Nissan Altima - Paint Correction

Its tough to judge the paints hardness because I was so anxious to use the Surbuf pads that I went with them right away rather then testing to see if something less agressive would work.

I would say it was medium though. Cleaned up easy enough but wasnt super delicate and by no means was it hard.

With paint that trashed, I wouldn't have hesitated to go straight to surbufs.
