2002 Corvette Z06 - Torch Red w/deep swirls + RIDs 105/205/Fuzion

This is my friend's 2002 Z06, and to my knowledge, it's never had a proper detail. I've attempted correcting it before with the Flex using purple Kompressor pads....105, Power Gloss, 1Z Intensiv Paste, nothing would touch the defects. Since we now have Surbuf pads, I told him to bring it on by and we'll see what we could do.

-Flex XC3401 VRG
-Meguiar's #105 Ultra Cut Compound with Surbuf R Series 6.5" pads
-Meguiar's #205 Ultra Finishing Polish with Lake Country Tangerine Hydro-Tech pads

LSP:
-Wolfgang Fuzion Carnauba Polymer Estate Wax

Misc:
-Flitz metal polish, Wolfgang Finger Pockets for exhaust
-Meguiar's #205 on wheels
-DP Gloss Tire Gel on tires
-Black nitrile gloves
-Cobra Indigo Edgeless Microfibers
-Cobra Deluxe Jr 600 Microfibers
-Autogeek Show Car Garage Apron


The car hadn't been washed since June according to him, and it really showed.








Notice all the exhaust residue and grime all over the rear bumper...








After washing and claying. Looks pretty good, right?








Until I pulled out my LED flashlight. Oops!

Any particular reason you used tang instead of white with 205?

Thanks Mark! Surbuf pads don't finish too nice in my experience. They cut harder and faster than any pads I've used, and with that, they just do not finish that well. For that reason, I chose to go with Tangerine Hydro-Techs for the final polishing step. On such hard paint, these pads left a perfect finish and had no problem removing any minor hazing left behind from the Surbufs.

Makes plenty of sense. I agree, surbuf pads don't finish too well, but cut GREAT!
