    Detailed Mom’s Mustang

My 76 year old mother (don’t tell her I told her age!) drives a 2000 Mustang V-6, 5 speed, convertible. She bought it new in 2000 and has only put 37,000 miles on it.

To say she does not take care of it would be an understatement. Before moving to Dallas she lived in a small west Texas town where the car had no cover and was subjected to blowing sand and glaring hot days. Now the car gets parked under a carport but no garage so it still gets a lot of blowing dirt on it.

The paint is in terrible condition. There are lots of chips and scratches. I did have some terrifying before pictures that were lost on my work laptop. Since those pictures I had cleaned it up but only applied a coat of wax.

My goal was to clean and provide protection.

    Exterior Wash:
    Meg’s GC and foam gun
Simply Green diluted for stains on vinyl top
    Clay

    Polish & Protect:
    Poorboy’s SSR 2.5, followed by SSR 1
Was able to reduce spider webbing but not remove. Will need to try SSR 3 someday
    Wolfgang Pre Wax Polish Enhancer
DP Premium Surface Shield Paint Sealant (1 coat)
    DP Max Wax (1 layer)

    Wheel:
Simply Green (diluted) on the wheel wells
    DP Gel Wheel Cleaner
Followed by a coat of AIO
    DP Gloss Tire Gel

    Glass:
    DP High Performance Glass Restorer
    DP Krystal Vision Glass Cleaner
    AIO

The DP sealant is awesome! It made the paint very shiny and bright. The DP Max Wax toned it down a little. If I had more time I would like to have added a second layer of the sealant.

Nice Job, great pics. What kind of dressing did you put on the vinyl top?

No dressing on the top. I need to get something for that, perhaps 303?

I did put Mother's Back to Black on the trim. And Poorboy's Natural Look on the interior.

I remember when I had a white Acura TL, and i must admit that removing swirls on that color is a pain. Maybe my swirls were too deep (when I bought it I I did not know anything about Autogeek ). Even with two passes of SSR2.5 I was not able to remove them all. I greatly reduced them though. And that's how I learned my lesson to be careful.
