Baby's First Ride
My daughter has been at the hospital for the past 3 days, delivering a fine youg boy. While she was away, I took the liberty to tackle her 08 Entourage Van...mommy van. A toddler/mom taxi can accumulate a lot of challenges.
It took approximately 14 hours from start to delivery...of the van, not the baby.
The plan:
Debug front end, windshield and roof.
Wash with Mother's Car Wash (she actually had car wash)
Clean tires with Black Magic tire cleaner foam.
Clean nasty, brake dust covered wheels with a Blue Coral wheel cleaner.
Rinse and Dry.
Vacuum the interior and wipe everything down with Carpet/Upholstery cleaner and leather and vinyl cleaner.
Scrubbed floor mats and hung out to dry.
Scope of work - Paint. Hand application for each step.
1. Clay all paint surfaces with Meguiar's Clay bar. Wipe, rinse and towel dry.
1. Apply and buff Meguiar's Cleaner Wax (Thurs)
2. Apply and buff Meguiar's Gold Class (Fri)
Glass.
1. Clean interior and exterior glass with Stoner's Invisible Glass.
It took 3 cleanings to get the glass sparkling and invisible. Lots of water spots and contamination to remove.
2. Treat exterior of all glass with Stoner's Invisbile Glass Repellant treatment.
Interior.
1. Vacuumed entire cloth interior. No stains. Mom does not permit drink and food in her van.
2. Scrubbed floor mats.
3. Washed all vinyl and plastic components.
4. Treated all vinyl and plastic with DP Interior Protectant.
I applied 2 coats of DP Interior Protectant since this was the first ever treatment since new. Buffed second coat with Indigo MF Towel.
Tires.
Scrubbed tires and wheels with appropriate cleaners.
Applied one coat of DP Gloss Tire Gel on Thursday.
First coat was absorbed quite readily by dry, untreated tires.
Applied second coat of DP Gloss Tire Gel on Friday and wiped down with applicator pad to preferred luster.
Here's a look at before.
Outdoor Wash Bay.
After.
And now, the most important reason for a Detailed Van....the baby's first ride home, his mom and of course, his big sister too.
I learned a few things. A van is a big challenge! Secondly, when doing it for your special ones...it's a joyful experience.
Thanks for looking.
Michael

WOW that was very sweet of you, and with a new little one to keep up with I can only imagine how grateful she must be to have such a clean van to come home to. Now see what you can do to help out with diaper duty!
