Posting pictures
Either my computer sucks or I need more coffee. I've found a few posts on uploading photos that didn't help me much. I am trying to get myself a profile picture. I've tried it through my computer, and - as suggested on one thread - through Photobucket without any luck. Aside from just a profile picture I'd also like to start posting some of the work we do.
A little guidance here would be appreciated.

Re: Posting pictures
first you need to take pictures and park on site like Photohost, Photobucket, or Gallery on site. Then:

basically you right click on picture, go to properties, and copy the entire address line. You then place this between IMG (image) tags to show online.

Re: Posting pictures
Thanks for replying. I came across the thread you linked before I posted. I've loaded some photos into Photobucket, and from there I do what has been suggested. When I paste that into "Option 1" for "Custom Profile Picture", it tells me its invalid. Do I need to paste it elsewhere? IMG, do I erase what is in place and type those letters before and after what is pasted, or do I type them in the way it is? Am I on the right track here?
Is there an "Idiots guide to getting pictures onto the computer" that gets past around to newbies to this site? Seems everyone knows how it's done.
If someone could baby-step me through this process, I'll do a full write-up on how to do it for the next guy five years from now that doesn't know how to do it either.

Re: Posting pictures
there is a full explanation on site Jason did sometime back. I am not sure what you are trying to do.
If you want a picture in your avatar (above left) next to your forum name then you only need to allow this site to pull it off your harddrive directly. Its in the user cp settings under avatar
If you want to add pictures to posts, then you need to upload them as offered prior. You then place them between the IMG tags or use the "go advanced" button and use the small beige looking picture button and add the address for picture in smaller popup both and it will do the rest.

Re: Posting pictures
I'm a smarter man now!
Guess I should have known what an avatar was. I was trying to load it as my profile picture.
Thanks for your help!
