    My Cherry Job

Finally got to pop my cherry on my new PC. First time user, big time experimenting. I bought what I thought to be the most economical kits of Autogeek and am learning as I go. I'm using XMT stuff because it's cheap and I'm only learning on a 12 year old car that I'm going to sell anyway. When I get better, I'll buy better stuff. But for now...definately please with the results!

I only had time to 1/2 my hood, but I'm juiced and want to share! So, here's a before/after. Will hopefully finish the car this weekend.

    Oh, and I used:

    XMT #3 w/LC Orange Pad
    XMT #1 w/LC White Pad
XMT Glaze w/ LC Gray/Black Pad
Meguiars Gold Class Liquid Wax w/LC Blue Pad

Looks great! I recently did a black Benz that was very similar to the condition that your hood was. It looked completely gray in the sun light. I can definately appreciate the difference polishing paint in that condition makes.

Deffinetly an improvement.i havent personally tried XMT but iv read on here a few times that it does perform well for the price. But when you decide to move 2 more expensive polishes look at either wolfgang total swirl remover 3.0 and Finish Glaze 3.0 or look into Menzerna Super Intense Polish and Nano polish. They actually are basically the same product since Menzerna teamed up with wolfgang.I personally have been using wolfgang and had very little dusting which if my memory serves me correctly dusting was the only issues with SIP and Nano.

Yeah, XMT is good for the price. I was going to just use off the shelf AutoZone stuff, but this gives me a better understanding of real detailing products.

The car won't be too hard and I probably don't even need more than the XMT#1. The car is single stage paint and there are so many chips in it, it'll need to be repainted to look decent...well, decent in my perfectionist mind.

My friend and I have decided to use my car as a project car. Right now not much will be done, but once summer hits and I can ride my bike everyday, the car will be worked on as soon as money comes in.

Can't wait to finish and try other products. Right now I'm stripping the interior to prep it for new paint, new headliner and new tint...which I discovered would be easier to put on when the panels are out. I don't have to be exact on the rear windows since the black on the outside and the panels/trim will all cover up any mistakes. Plus, I get to learn something. Not doing the rear window though. As curious as I am, I have little patience and a bad back. I'll leave that one up to someone else .

More to come.......thanks for the reply's.
