Corolla Detail- post winter + new product detail
Hey everyone. I spent this weekend cleaning up my girlfriends Corolla, which suffered quite a bit of damage from the rough and long winter which we had this year. The car is a 2005 with 45,000 miles on it and I have taken care of it almost its whole life. I have used a variety of products on it and decided to keep that trend going. Previously it has received coats of Four Star UPP (non PCed), Poorboy’s Natty’s Blue, Zaino Z1 & Z5, Duragloss 105, Optimum Opt-iseal, Optimum Car Wax, and so on.
Since the car had a lot of marring and swirling I decided to use Wolfgang’s new polishes, Total Swirl Remover 3.0 and the Finishing Glaze 3.0. The TSR3.0 was use with my Makita with a 7.5” Lake Country white polishing pad. I spread the product at 600 RPMs, then did the pyramid, 900 to 1500 to 900 and back to 600. There was virtually zero dusting. Last time I used the TSR3.0 it was a tad difficult to use but I continued experimenting and found a process that worked. A mist of 50/50 alcohol and water on the pad plus a 1-2” bead of product per panel made the polish work flawlessly. I used the same technique with the FG3.0 but this time I used the UDM, speed 6 with a 5.5” Lake Country white CCS polishing pad.
After the polishing was done I did a 50/50 wipe down and pulled the car in the sun for inspection. While the car was outside I decided to use Poorboy’s White Diamond glaze in full sun. I applied with a PC and a 7.5” Lake Country blue finishing pad on speed 3. The results were very nice and left the finish very slick. After 4-5 hours I applied a layer of Meguiar’s #26 by hand. The next day I came back and did a spit shine with OCW and Natty’s Red. The after’s with the wax are a day after the polishing pictures so the lighting is slightly different but still in full sun. The vehicle is very slick and glossy. Enough typing onto the pictures!
